Training - What Training?!

Going soft guys! Only thing harder than tabbing in tight jeans in summer, is Outlaw 2013.

Eventually went for a run, 4k warmup and thought I was going to fall over, felt terrible, even had a sit down for about 5 minutes.

Then went onto the local parkrun course and did something like 19:55, not sure where that came from, about 45 seconds of my course PB and a bit of a breeze on the way back.

Surely Frankfurt and Perranporth are up there?

Certainly the years I did them! (2015/2017).

Thats what I thought, your Frankfurt race reports sounded proper gnarly. Reading other people’s stuff, that race in Embrun sounds like a pretty grim day at the office.

I’ve just passed 40k towards the Tron - so we’re at a similar spot.

My actual total is 49.something. Bloody California challenge :man_facepalming:t2:

I’m 47% into the Iron bike (23,600), which isn’t bad considering I only clicked the challenge on May 14th.

Overall, I’m 90,600 mtrs climbed.

The last time I wore jeans I reckon was my Xmas do.

I’ve not worn a pair of trousers since my work closed us down a week or two before lockdown.

there’s only one person wearing the trousers round our way recently…

Most days I’m only wearing the boxers I went to bed in, until I have to change out of them for bib shorts for a turbo session.

My washing at the moment is literally boxers and training kit. Yet my gf still manages to get through about three outfits a day, despite going outside. Apparently fresh clothes are comfy. :man_shrugging:

Mine is slightly better, I juts live in shorts year round. But work always ruins it!

100km ride for me in 4 hrs.

First time I’ve ridden that far since, err, Ironman Wales 2013! :joy:

Pretty steady ride, a few nasty hills. I’m learning that I suck on the steep hills. Just don’t seem to have that top end power output.

I’ve noticed how toilet roll consumption and the recycling has dropped whilst my wife is away :yum:

2 x Road to Sky.

  1. 31.4km, 1hr49, 1061mtrs, 178 av watts. 30day PR 78:21

  2. 31.4kms, 1hr57, 1063 mtrs (?), 168 av watts.

This was a bit of an experiment, or at least started that way. I chose the Trek Emonda with Miliensteins for the first climb (swapped to TT for descent).

Then on the second ride I went TT bike all the way, as I was interested in the time difference. Only problem was that with four hairpins to go on the 2nd climb, my neighbour needed a hand with something, so that cost probably 5mins, so I didn’t get an accurate comparo.

But the TT bike felt harder for sure. If you’re asking why I simply didn’t U-turn at the bottom, I tried to. On this ride I decided to try and use the app but it was a disaster. I could connect ok but hardly anything seemed to worked. All my metrics were being displayed and the tracker thing but none of the buttons on the bottom row worked like Ride On or U-Turn. I could kind off send a Ride On if I picked a random dot on the tracker but that was all.

I’m using an android phone with a MacBook running Zwift but like I say, all the connectivity and metrics were being displayed?

I attempted to U-Turn at the bottom using the Mac but forgot how to do it, so just started a new ride.

Also, on the road bike, my avatar kept taking a drink which was annoying AF.

Although managed 279W for 20 minutes going up Snake Pass into a headwind :snake::clap::exploding_head:

JUST missed hitting 50mph cycling into the headwind on the descent, too :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::triumph:

That’s 507km cycling for me this week.
Just under 20 hours with the running.

Although I got home too late to go swimming at 2pm :sob::sob::sob:

I did a virtual duathlon this morning in memory of Maurice Young who died at the age of 86. He collected a number of Euro and World titles so the virtual duathlon FB page had organised a duathlon of 8.6 miles or 86KM for the long one.
It’s the only race simulation/event I have done this year and enjoyed putting on the race face.
Both runs out side in the cheery Scottish drizzle.
