Training - What Training?!

Well technically we didn’t even meet as he was in the house working and I was playing on it with my eldest. We’d popped to his garden to collect some tadpoles. :joy:

Was it a really tall shed? I’m picturing a 6 X 8 shed from B&Q and struggling to visualise where the climbing wall would go.

Lawnmower, check
Spade, check
Cushions for the garden, check
Climbing wall, er…

It’s just a bouldering wall, so at a negative angle but about 7ft tall I’d guess.

If you look where the little one is standing on the mat and where her hands are on the wall you get an idea of the angles it’s set at.

Basically it’s bloody hard to keep yourself pinned on the wall. Especially with those scraps of orange that are the foot ‘holds’.

I have no footwork whatsoever, so find bouldering tough. On the lower grades on a proper wall I always relied on brute strength/weight ratio to cover up for lack of decent technique!

How is that speed endurance sessions can transform 400m into 4,000m. That’s how it feels anyway! :joy:

Little kid at childminder + Big kid at a park party + Mrs GB at the park = 3 hours of free sunshine for me! :relaxed: :relaxed: :relaxed:

3 x 2km with 3 min walk/jog recovery inside a 15km run.
Managed 6.59, 6.48, 6.56 for the reps. Odd road as it looks like the out km is uphill (and gentle headwind) and the back is downhill. But the pace, rpe and elevation graph say the opposite! Made for tough 2nd kms in each rep. Happy with that though. And best of all I get a very rare hour’s peace to put my feet up!

I did the SBR thing yesterday too. Technically RBS. To be fair the run was only a slow 5km pootle with the Mrs before breakfast. Zwift at lunchtime, dip in the pool in the evening. Isn’t it great to be able to do this stuff without actually breaking too many laws?

Did a 60km ride with some mates last night.
32.5kmh all nice and easy-mod.
Big turns on the front, nowhere near through and off.

Ended up in the pub, feeling it this morning :beers::see_no_evil:

The app put our order through twice, but we only paid once :tada::partying_face:

Training the beard today. First good trim in a long time, it was time to lose some of the winter plumage.

“OI! YOU! Yes, you, young man, stop having fun in the pub and go punish yourself”

Oh, okay, Professor Whitty…I’ll stick the new Conti Gp5000s on the time trial bike then go ride it like the wind outside, for the first time in 2021, is that okay?

“NO! You must then run off the bike”

Oh, but I’ve not done that since…erm…July 2020?

“THEN TRY HARDER, BOY!”

Erm…okay…but I have a massive hangover.

“EVEN BETTTER!”

So, with Whitty’s words ringing in my ears, off I went:
