Training - What Training?!

TBH, given the current weather, I think I’d drop about 100W on an FTP test. And I’m only at about 200.

FTP isn’t a fixed number, expect to fluctuate and 6W is nothing really. It doesn’t mean you are less fit.

Thanks guys, it’s been declining slowly since February and it’s really frustrating. To be honest I was only hoping to maintain as I started much higher than previous years. 274->273>265->259.
I feel fitter, train more and more consistently than ever, but none of my performance markers show improvement. Very frustrating!

My Garmin bleeped at me about 3mins into warm up that my performance was “-5”. If that meant -5W then bloody hell Garmin are good at this stuff :sweat_smile:

17 km run in lovely sunshine
1:30 on the nose.
Av hr 141.
3 rd run in as many days.

Nice chat with my training buddy, he did however have two hr spikes, it’s quite unnerving jogging uphill and he shows you his 215 hr whilst still having a conversation?!?

He’s fine now anyway … onwards !

Have you tested after a taper?
You may find your consistency leads to better fitness, and steady ‘lower numbers’ until you give yourself a taper break to improve performance.

From my n=1, I doubt I could knock out a new FTP or 5km at the minute

Nice easy hour run for me today. Yep, I’ll say it … Its flippin hot still!

Continuing to break low hr personal records which is gratifying, especially given the heat is worth a few bpm.

13.5km at 4.33/km at 153 bpm averages

Pleased with that.

Sacked off the early ride planned. Kids had a shocker last night. Up every hour from midnight. Managed to blag a few hours sleep once my wife took them down stairs at 5. Minor win for me

Exactly. My alarm got switched off instantly. Got up at 8, felt pretty decent. Will swap today’s hard effort for an easy hour on the bars tomorrow

Swim, got in some fast 100s which felt good - not sure I’ve done 1:28 before (99m though)

Swim drills … practising what I saw on a video last night … seemed to go well.

Went back 2 hours later and swam 75 l
Just under 1500m

26:18 trying to think about all the swim things I’ve learnt recently … hurts my little brain!

That’s fast for me for less effort it seems
