To me, with your sub9 goal, that doesn’t sound the best idea
Pretty sure most coaches would agree.

Pretty dismal attempt, but considering how long its been and with injury.
Good news is my shoulder feels fine. Bad news is my bicep tendon injury has suddenly re appeared like the fucking shopkeeper from Mr Ben.
Good work all, and delighted for you @GRamsay.
9km steady treadmill run for me, in what felt like a sauna.
Slow and steady 24.28km with Mrs T and the dog around Rivington. Plenty of bikes out on Sheephouse today
Beautiful weather
Was meant to run early doors but LO said she wanted us to be together this morning for breakfast. We were talking about Ukraine yesterday and she doesn’t seem stressed about it but running will come a distant second to seeing her smile.
Hopefully I’ll go later
Struggled to get out again today. Took my cycling and running kit down in the morning to have options. Still, despite littlest one waking me up early I just sat there procrastinating for an hour.
Eventually realised I needed a quick burst of action to get me out the door, or this week was going to fall very flat. So chucked running kit on and forced myself outside.
Covered my watch, turned left and that was the extent of my plan.
Ended up with a decent run. Didn’t look at my watch until 15km in, as I had low battery so was trying to turn hrm off. I think I sub consciously held my effort level after seeing much better numbers than expected.
Ended up with 23k @ 4.16 pace, with 240m climbing (mainly one big hill). Somehow set a pb up the steepest 400m of the hill as well. Which is weird as I felt like I was just cruising along, and I know I’ve hit that hill hard in the past, on a long run when I was much fitter.
I think I’ve got a big disconnect between mental and physical at the mo. Luckily it seems I’m in ok shape physically, just lacking the mojo to do anything with it. Still, I can work with that. Better than having no shape and no mojo, as that would just send me spiralling down I think.
Few big life things to sort, then I think I’ll have some more head space.
Yeah, goes out, CBA, still runs at about sub 3 marathon pace
Great running really!
That’s a cracking run on the spur of the moment
Know just what you mean about head space. Lots of things to sort out here mean I’m inevitably going to have to put tri some way down the list of priorities this year.
Got Cotswold to look forward to, but will be approaching it now with a “get round OK” mentality, rather than allocating a lot of energy and time to training for it.
One of the things I have always loved about tri though is it kind of lends itself to dipping in and out. Some years to really go for it and stretch the limits, other years just to tick over and view it more as a way of staying in some sort of shape & as a stress buster.
very nice!
Nice 4 hour ride in the sun.
Wind was horrific today though. Felt like a headwind the whole way round
Mow Cop and Biddulph Moor into the headwind.
Also seemed to the only place where it was raining
Waved to @APM from the top
87km 3hrs 20Mins
EDIT TO ADD…
This was power up Biddulph Moor into the headwind, FFS
And it can FRO / Get In The Sea / Do One
I’ve already done one FTP test this week, without finding out I’m actually capable of producing more watts that that
Agree totally.
It’s still a great sport, I wouldn’t dream of racing at this weight / level of fitness. But that’s a personal choice
Had a play with the college’s new purchase of a portable Vo2 testing device - VO2 Master - and did a ramp test.
Not really rested up, other than a day off yesterday, so legs still carrying some fatigue, so just using this as a quick benchmark.
Used the Zwift protocol - 5 mins easy, then 100w, then 20w per minute.
Went in thinking I was about 320w shape
Ramp test gives me 317w and a Vo2 max of 55
The college only bought small masks, so was struggling towards the end to open my mouth as wide as I felt I needed to. Not sure if that any effect at all
Love it @Poet!
39 minute spin class for me, first time on any bike in nearly two weeks. Felt it.
43 mile
2 climbs - out and back up crow road, whizzed down other side, turned around and came straight back up
Nice 16 mile run in the sun
@jeffb why couldn’t it have been like this 2 weeks ago
Typical isn’t it! It’s been glorious here as well.
22km run - weather lovely
19K trail run today on tired legs, lovely day though. Achilles was fine before but a bit grumbly after the cinema.
Decent week, 136K (Wattbike), with the TTT and a longer ride with some intensity yesterday.
4 runs although one was just 4K on the dreadmill, reps on Tuesday and the parkrun yesterday, adding up to 40K, although today’s run was 1:55.
3 swims but only about 4K in total, but slowly building them up. Should have enough in 4 weeks to get round the 70.3.
