After cycling squares last night, I went for a swim this morning feeling very tired…
Decided on some 100s in the pool this morning, as even when I’m tired I can normally manage 10-15 of those for a reasonable session.
Also decided to give myself a minute recovery after 10 reps
First 4 reps on 1:30, then started to get into the 1:27-1:28 range
10 done. 60s recovery
Thought I might have 5 more.
Nope
10 more done, all 1:27s
Maybe I just see how many I can do until I can’t make 1:30

Can I get to 38?
Yep, in fact 40 and had I decided, maybe squeezed out another 5 under 1:30
So, all in all, a good session despite not wanting to move this morning.
Oohh I got out for a run. Couple of laps of the volcano.
I swear I’m recovering from covid though, despite never testing pos. I’m fine day to day but as soon as the hr goes up a tad my chest just locks down and my legs didn’t have a huge amount.
Going up was a struggle, as was the first lap (though I stopped to take pics). Pushed a fair bit harder on the 2nd lap, but wasn’t really giving it my all. Partly cos I didn’t feel I had much to give but also didn’t want to lose my footing and turn an ankle up there alone.
Very surprised to see I’m 5th on the leaderboard for the volcano lap kom! And only 16 secs off the top. I’m pretty certain I could find 16 secs, so may have to make one more trip up there!
This is something I wondered about my week when I felt a bit tired yesterday, the reality is that any normal person wouldn’t do 10% of what we do on top of day-to-day stuff, it’s pretty daft really.
Fuck. My bike power has been over reading and I don’t know for how long. 20W. Maybe all year even.
After changing the battery a few days ago I noticed on my watch (that controls the erg mode trainer and also receives from my power meter) that Trainer Power was 280W but my power output was 260W.
The trainer is also matched over Ant+ to my power meter, or was, because when I checked the settings today the ant ID was gone. Set
It again rebooted the trainer and all is good again.
So recently it must’ve just been taking from the trainer as the two figures matched, and I seemed to be achieving all my workouts.
I just tried 2x20mins at threshold and died on the first one
Garmin doesn’t display the power source but I was getting L/R torque and L/R balance on Feb 15th and 20th but not on Feb 21st doing Tray Mountain -2 or on Feb 22nd, 23rd or 24th.
So only two months training at -10% power.
Not the end of the world but disappointing. I was thinking I’d got fitter, which was nice while it lasted. Sad that such a positive feeling is now a Red Flag for the future
I’ve registered something like 5-6% FTP gains since I lost good data so back to January values and start again
Just did the Zwift Zone Benchmarking after yesterdays ramp test. If im honest it felt easy. Byt my FTP came out at 255, my all time best was 313. I cant see how it can be higher than 255 and that close to PB.
So is the trainer wrong, was my previous PM wrong. Guess the only thing to do is take the old PM out on a ride outside and see how it feels.
Ah wow. The only run I did on my hols there was a costal there and back - from puerto del carmen, along past the runway on which the planes fly over and land really close

65k cycle up Lluc climb and down Selva descent after warming up in the petrol station taverna. Wet and windy today in NE Mallorca. Garmin kept giving me “Maritime Weather!” warning alerts?
Getting some good fitness at the end of this week, compared to previous efforts, my current cardio is still fair to crap for this site.
Friday was 30 min flat out bike in a prison gym that could double as a sauna with no air con and a plastic roof… yep it was as bad as it sounds.

Av hr 155… thought it would have been higher.
Drank 1 l of water in 25 mins and had a puddle round the bike in the end. HORRIBLE
Today was 10 press-ups a min for an hour.

Eating and sleeping really well which has to help I guess.
