At 52kgs!
Youâre gonna kill it at Cots. Letâs hope youâre ad aero as a brick!

??? Iâm 69kg
Youâre thinking of Inoshoiki Samukazi I expect
Weight doesnât matter so much (at all?) at Cotswolds
Itâs all about absolute power on flat courses.
The (assumed) increase of frontal area from a heavier rider isnât a linear relationship to over coming the increased drag from that. SoâŚif you can produce a larger amount of watts then youâll be quicker than a smaller rider who canât produce as many watts on a flat course
Thereâs more science, but basically it means I can head west and do 30kmh for relatively little effort on my road bike
Anyways we all know whoâs going to kill it when @gingerbongo unleash the 4%
Iâd also add, on the second lap, use âThe Rulesâ to their fullest effectâŚ
âŚas in SLINGSHOT baby
You are 12m back and have 25s to pass the slower cyclist - you donât need to surge, but keeping at the same power you can really feel the speed increase.
Once youâve passed them, move back in and make sure you have 12m to the cyclist in front.
This isnât Kona.
Itâs now the passed cyclists responsibility to drop back (HINT: they wonât!)
You can then relax in the 12m draft for a while and start to make your second pass.
You can literally do this for the entirety of the second lap
EDIT TO ADD: For the run it does. Sorry
Iâd add here that the 4% are slippyAF underfoot and you should be really careful leaving transition in them.
I slipped on the rubber matting
Dont tell him that
I used the Next %s last year and they were fine.
You flat pavement pounders just donât know how to handle the off road thatâs all!
1h 45, av 240 W, absolutely cooked, going to call it quits.
Not sure if this means I canât ride 240W or if Sundayâs race still in the legs (didnât feel like it at the start). Think Iâll try this one again in a week or 2 just to see. Useful sess though. Itâs definitely too high a power target for me for a70.3, I think 230 is probably right, but 240W feels like it might be a good number for a ceiling power, ie. make sure I donât go above it during 70.3
Think Iâm going to bail on the run, maybe later
Oh some bad news: the Saris overreads , says 257W
7% over
Thatâs poor.
I find doing 240W waaaayyyyy easier outdoors than in.
Youâve weeks left yet.
Get outdoors and ride 2 hours at 240W. Run off.
Then do a ride at 230W and run off.
Gauge from there
Yeah Iâd agree with him for once
I really need to find a spare half hour to get my bike to the shop. But then I lose it for a good few days which is the downside as the roadie is in need of a doctorâs appt as well.
Riding outdoors while watching a 2 hour webcast about advances in management of dyslipidaemia would be super-risky thoughđ
Got to say Iâm not sure much went in during the second hour
Ps. Better get that bike fixed up soon GB, or is this yet another thinly veiled sandbagging attempt?,
It will be beeping every 2.5mins for you. You must be really annoying to run with
What PM are you comparing against?
My Saris is much less complimentary than my Assioma Uno.
(@mw22 do you ever compare your Saris against another PM?)
Garmin vector pedal, left only, 240W
Saris H3, 257 W
Guess itâs stretching credibility to try to pretend the right leg averaged 274W which is the only way I can see that theyâd agree
Did you cycle to a target power - taken from your Saris - at Weymouth? If so, you must have felt super comfortable on the run.
Have done - assioma duoâŚ
Road bike (which lives on turbo) - comes in at less than 1% difference.
When I put the pedals on the TT bike and put that on the Saris - up to 20% difference (having changed settings for crank length as well as recalibrating etc etc. Similar results the few times I did it. Never got to the bottom of why. But TT is rarely on there so didnât worry too much.
