Training - What Training?!

My candence averages around 80, so I feel I should try to nudge that up as well as ironing out my deadspots.

80 is low but there isn’t really a one size fits all. Being smooth will pay higher dividends than trying to spin your legs like a food mixer.

I dont know if its due to my size but I cant spin fast. 75 is comfortable for me. Just grind it out.

Ive just accepted it now as thats how I ride and trying to change it wont achieve anything.

Chucked 6.3 tonnes of iron around. Overhead press is getting hard, my garage has a a room above it so its a normal height ceiling and with my size I cant stand to press as I hit the ceiling so I have to sit. Getting going with the first rep is hard because I cant bounce my knees to get the weight moving, its a complete dead start.

Keeps me honest in later reps from cheating and bouncing them up when it gets hard though

How smooth is your pedalling?

Pretty smooth I would say. I have hub based PMs so I dont know about a L/R balance but Im not a stomper. I am just a big (196cm), heavy (100kg+), powerful rider and feel more comfortable with a slower cadence.

The joy of going back to a cycle route you haven’t done for a few weeks to discover a big section of bone-shakingly bad road has been newly resurfaced. A truly glorious few minutes.

Took a punt on the Reebok floatrides (see deal thread).
Looking for a daily trainer to protect my knee outside.

They ran a bit large, albeit just on the one foot (gratuitous foot pics to follow :grimacing:). But the positives outweigh that.

First near pain free run outside since last August. Shoes felt very spongy and light (only just weighed more than endorphin speeds). No Achilles pain (9mm drop prob helped).
Even managed a proper progressive 5k :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Yeah I update in miles but have km splits… Maximum annoyance :grimacing:

Only 1min/km to get back to pb pace :sob:

I’m hearing good things about those shoes.

Not training

First run in 3.5 weeks, testing the calf on the treadmill.

Oddly legs felt great, after all the cycling and rowing, but breathing was laboured.

Anyway, 5k run this morning.

2k swim on the cards tonight.

Hope the calf is starting to feel better FP. I was in Andover last week visiting my mum. Had a lovely time. Was hoping to start a nice running block on my return and now I have the 'rona :face_with_thermometer:. Feeling really crap :cold_face::hot_face::cold_face::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Hopefully it passes quickly Anna

Thanks Adam. I hope it passes quickly too. I’m off to the Alps in a few weeks and I need my lungs working properly
