Trans Continental Race 27th July 2025

Yeah I get that in a cyclocross or MTB course you might put a section in that only the best riders can ride, but putting in a 22km section that risks wrecking your race this far in just sounds vindictive

Cue the Eastenders music

… have to say it’s looked like the dullest day so far …

I think the winner has just won in more or less exactly 9 days.

Quite a lot of wind noise in Matt’s last transmission, I must admit that listening was quite difficult for large parts so I think I missed some key parts.

His bike seems to be back in full running order after getting hit by motorbike :+1:

Had a great start to the day cruising along great roads until forest fires meant a re-routing south. Komoot kept recommending unsuitable tracks. Sustained a sidewall puncture that took 3 darts to seal.

Eventually got some great roads, rattled along & was in great spirits towards the end of his own Insta post.

Da iawn Swiss Matt.

He was the only one to re-route … not a tremendous amount of additional distance but definitely not the most efficient.
CP4 is definitely on for this evening if he keeps on at current pace.

Possibly the only one to meet that particular policeman, or others chose to ignore his instructions :person_shrugging:

Yeah, who knows … in the grand scheme of such a long race, it’s not really very significant. He’s pretty much exactly where he was yesterday morning in the train.

I was also struggling to hear at times so missed the bit about the policeman!

I guess he’s had the tyre changed?

After 9 days of sweating in that top, it bet it can do the parcours on its own

Still to set off today but the dot says he’s up to 42nd.

Should finish tomorrow perhaps?

What is sarah doing???

Looks like she’s going to take the ferry from Eceabat

Looks like she’s currently on the boat

Nuts to see think there was less than 5 hours between the first 2 finishers after all that riding.

Was Abdullah the guy who had to go back for his passport? Just I noticed he finished 4th!

Spoons back on Zwift by Monday….

I don’t think so, no. He was the guy in 2nd or 3rd for a long while.

The lad that’s turned round was a young lad. Maybe Belgian or something. Can’t recall his name now.
