TT Smackdown 2025

My wife told off for wearing a white cap at Staffs.
I said it matched. She said it made me hard to spot.

Asked why I didn’t wear my turquoise one, to be easy to spot :star_struck:

Start list is out.

@Poet get on that python script and rank the performances of the 57 mass starters. :+1:t3:

Interestingly it’s miles smaller than the waves which are all 130+.

Triafleets have lost their way it would seem.

Bib 23 for me BABY :wastebasket::basketball::basketball_man:t4:

JORDAN :fire:

Who’s gonna be my Scottie Pippen (33) , Denis Rodman (91) , Steve Kerr (25) and Horace Grant (54)?

Do people not know Graeme reads what people say about his race :joy::joy::joy:

The race is non drafting, and we’re going to be very hot on issuing penalties for this as I’ve read on a facebook group about a certain club planning on working together to get a fast time, so please bear this in mind and remember to follow the rules please.

@gingerbongo - Yeah. Triathletes definitely CANNOT swim anymore. Including me :joy: I did a 30:12 (?) at 113. 35:00 dead last weekend :sob::sob::sob:
They all sit in the garages on Zwift.
They all came past me like rocket ships :rocket::rocket:
They’ll be using the “sling shot” effect to full use.

Also, 57 triathletes is not really mass start :joy::joy::joy:
We will be starting together, though, which is ace.
Much better than the rolling time trial start
It’ll be less biff than waves.

@SidSnot will be first out of the water. We should get to see how far ahead he is by 20-25km!

EDIT: Good job I looked, bike course has changed :joy:

What’s the difference between a ‘mass start’ of 57 and then waves of 130?

Surely they’re all just waves.

Waves are rolling, time trial starts.
Clock starts when you cross the mat.

For us, deep water start (I assume?) and all time starts at 0555 when the air horn goes off.
So we will know exactly where we are position wise amongst one another :+1:t3:

The mass start will just be like the traditional wave then; yes start in water.

I’m surprised they don’t do AG waves in bigger events like this; do Ironman still do that, or has even that been watered down?

Nah, IM was a stupid ass rolling start last weekend.
Jump into a freezing lake at 7am.
Get shock.
Breaststroke for 200m.

Utterly ridiculous. Borderline dangerous not allowing people to warm up and acclimatise.

You will all be mercilessly hunted down by gingerbongo and will get the shoulder tap as he rattles past

Opposite shoulder, I hope :joy:

I have heard there was a fatality in the swim last weekend. Not sure if it’s been confirmed though.

So who is going to be the first one to complain about the biff then??? If you do, you’re just blaming someone from here :joy::joy:

There’s the irony of rolling starts, if you can’t acclimatise or warm-up. That said. I’m sure there are loads of people who never bother doing a swim warm-up anyway :man_shrugging:

I don’t remember there being much opportunity for a warm-up at Roth @Matthew_Spooner ?

He won’t get to hunt me down. I’ll be behind by the end of the swim :joy:

I was looking at my swim from 2019 and found this  Big queue getting out so I was able to get my cap and goggles off pretty quickly! #aerohair

I’m starting in Wave 1 so I’ll be behind by the start of the swim, and that’s exactly where I expect to stay!

Yes, I’m at the back, regardless of how we start the race :grimacing:

So I was riding to pizza last night (well actually to the TT we saw @BadAsh at, but I wasn’t competing), and got chatting to some guy who’s doing this, and he said the lake is super shallow in parts, but you get a DQ if you push off the bottom? Seems harsh, I could’ve raced and just run the swim!

Not very deep at the moment, start will have to be quite a way out to be treading water. And as commented elsewhere, some very shallow sections on the back straight, although I think they try to dog leg to avoid the worse.

What’s the non-wetsuit temperature limit? A few more weeks like this and we could be there.

Shush your mouth! I’ll borrow a tanker from work and dump some ice in it. I need my wetsuit! :joy:

Ah right, shallow lake is good :+1:t3:
I’d be happy with a non-wetsuit swim.
Although G states that it’ll probably be wetsuit optional in the newsletter.

Anyone gonna state their targets yet…

Good for him. I mean the course is fast enough, if they still need to TTT I’d suggest a rank of wheelchairs for the run.
