Oh how simple and straightforward everything is in the land of @Poet
I do genuinely wish i had a little of your ‘matter of factness’ sometimes!
Better start training in earnest after Christmas then; TT expects.
Started in March last time.
Plenty o’time.
Look at the positions @Poet gained in transition though
Not sure if that’s overall rankings, or positions gained?
The arrow is a bit misleading!
Normally ranking for that particular discipline
A sub 6 would do me nicely.
Swim should be no problem as long as my shoulder is fixed soon. Physio said steroid injection next if not fixed.
Bike I think is achievable for me, because the course is flat. Hills are my nemesis
The run is unknown, my first tri was a 70.3 and it all went to shit on the run.
Good lad!!! That’s written on the Cotswold Rosetta Stone then.
next ??
You fast boys will wait for us at the end?
I’d be over the moon with sub 5 but I actually need to swim a bit first…
Chucked in wha I think is realistic by then, bearing in mind I have the Outlaw 2 weeks later. If was on track for this I would get a shift a on toards the back end of run.
Nice! Punchy targets, but they don’t seem entirely out of the question. 2:20 on the bike is moving tho! Although if you were doing 37kph on an adapted roadie, then it would be logical to assume there’s some free speed there.
I can’t pull up my 2020 result page and it be meaningful as the total time didn’t have transitions included in it, but I was pretty similar to Poet. I probably have a minute or two to gain on the swim, seeing as up to that point in 2020, pools had basically been shut from memory. I’ve also swum 29 flat there before as its normally a bit short.
Bike course is slightly different again now isn’t it, with the section going northerly? Not sure if that makes it faster or slower?
Need to actually get around to entering myself
Yeah they’re probs unrealistic. But hey, got to try. I’m hoping I can squeeze that ftp up a tad. But, the reality is family and work can quite easily scupper it all!
I’ve got absolutely ZERO idea what run shape I’ll be in come July. Currently smashing out 20 mins at 6min/km.
I’ll take a sub 5 …
After annoying the grammar Nazis earlier… Thought I’d leave this in mph and min miles for the metric/imperial brigade (whichever it is
).
July is so far away, I can’t even begin to imagine what sort of shape I will or won’t be in.
Also last triathlon I did longer than an oly was Alpe de huez in 2009.
Swimming and running usually come ok to me, but riding a bike not so much. And running after riding a bike seems to be a highly movable feast. Sometimes it works ok but sometimes it doesn’t.
Haven’t actually given a moment’s thought yet to how I’m going to get in shape for this race, but have this bad feeling it will have to involve actually riding a bike out there in the world rather than just 40 minute smashfests on Zwift.
sub 5 is my target too… my half PB is 5:14, and 113 looks like a faster course!
My target is much more aspirational than a prediction. Swim will come back to me very quick once I start properly training. Bike I just need to get my FTP up. Because its flat its going to benefit me massively.
It’s just the run that is a complete unknown and will depend massively on how much weight I can lose.
I have done I think 4 middle distance races ever. But yikes 2 of them were in the 90s.
Don’t think I have ever run sub 1h30 in middle distance tri, so maybe that could be a massive stretch goal. It would also probably help me not to self destruct on the bike, which is otherwise highly likely based on past experience.
Bike looks the same as 2019 there.
I’m sure a few messages to Graeme could persuade him to keep it like that
Who wants a “hill”?
I’m getting a TT fit with George Fox specially. Aero gainz
