This question is pretty much impossible for me to answer right now.

Honestly, getting around the whole thing in one piece will feel like a bit of a win for me. Finishing the bike will be great. Heck, even finishing the swim would make me happy right now.

But that’s no fun is it?!

Caveat - covid doesn’t stop me completely in my tracks, and my calf lets me at least get part way round.

I’ll be delighted with:

Swim & T1 - 40 mins
Bike - 2.45
T2 & Run - 2.00

Swim won’t change. Good day may buy me some more bike time back. Run - literally no idea.

Looking back at this, my swim may be over optimistic but my run pessimistic so things even out.

What’s the weighting of ā€œsandbagging potentialā€ to actual finish Time?

E.g.

I’m 1*, so does that all me a 25 minute leeway?
Whereas someone with a 5* rating would only get a 5 minute leeway?

Like a handicap, of sorts.

Or, is 3* about bang on.
Whereas 1* is dream world.
5* is Saharan-Esque sandbagging?

Due to a total lack of reliable information on any of the participants, no bookmaker will be offering prices for this event

Please can we split out the individual times, specifically the swim. Need to see who’s feet I’ll be trying to tap for 1900m :joy: Having a quick skim my optimistic 35mins seems to leave me in no-mans land, a couple predicting 32mins (or 35 with transition) and a few 40mins.

I think maybe @Doonhamer may be the lucky one

If you don’t mind stopping & standing up a couple of times as I get over panic attacks :joy:

I presume it’s a scale of the chances of beating your predicted time. With your 1* it’s seen you’ve been pretty honest and you would be hard pushed to beat that by much, but some of those sandbaggers predicting 5 hours will probably go and smash 4:30 so get 5*.

I hadn’t looked at it that deeply

More of - Poet has committed 100% to his best time so no sandbagging on the cards.
Meanwhile Fruity and GB are likely recruiting a sand sculpture to capture them as they cross the line well under predicted times;

Mrs MW will try and do race day updates and photos - assuming I’m not having a mental breakdown like at Lakesman!

Come on now … i need an asterisk, not a 5* sandbag!

Yeah that’s exactly what I meant to say @BadAsh - thanks :+1:

Ssssh GB - you need to be saving your energy

I will in no way achieve them, but I can dream, right?

I’m just super hyped for a TT day out of Yore.
Like the Vit, ADITL or many other events prior to 2011 :+1:t3:

I did do a turbo today though. Did 35 mins with Coco with a couple of ramp ups. Everything felt a bit weird and ā€˜off’ but not really sure how. HR was mega low initially, and no juice in the legs, but they did warm up. Felt a bit nauseous on the bike, but that seemed to pass.

Don’t feel any worse after the ride. Might try for 45 mins tomorrow.

Just checked Strava, the last open water swim I have recorded was in 2017. Really, was it THAT long ago?!?! Oh and that was a 400m team sprint (which was only supposed to be 250m) and I did it skins in September. I was frozen, definitely the wrong call in hindsight with the swim being 150m long too.

Better try on the wetsuit! Time to soak it in the bath now!

This was Outlaw half in May.
Swim T1 Bike T2 Run Total
39:19 6:46 2:55:30 7:02 1:50:52 5:39:29
(cocked up both transitions, stopped in the swim to calm down and clear goggles)

I will go with:
Swim + T1 Bike + T2 Run Total
42 2:57 1:51 5:30
