TT Smackdown 2025

The bike went (turn right out of Transition) up Spratsgate Lane on the Cotswold 226 event. All very confusing

Yeah, it changed for the second one. I marshalled the first one (used to be local to there) and it was the apparently the issues from the first race that prompted the route change.

Yeah, it was quite chaotic. Being a faster athlete in an early wave, it was a bit of a weird one having to ā€œwaitā€ to cross the road. Makes sense they changed it.

That’s not to complain about what Graeme and the team did tho. It was absolutely amazing to be able to race at all after the year we’d had to that point, and the adaptations they made to other aspects of the day all worked amazingly (as I think my detailed review attested!)

There was always a crossover between runners and cyclists on the course, pre 2020 anyway.

Bike just looks like the stick man has been there a while and his head has spilt a bit

Yes, but I think the hugely spaced rolling start made it even worse in terms of the flow of cyclists and how long they were still in that area for. Normally you’d largely only have had crossing issues with other cyclists returning to T2 with only a very few athletes still heading out to lap 2 at the other junction, but with the stagger, huge volumes of cyclists were present at both. Having the northern segment eliminates one of those crossings I guess

All I’m hearing is excuses - see you in July. I’m in the shape of my life

Despite me stating on the thread for 2022 goals that I ain’t doing this, I am pencilling it in.

Only to be spanked by @stenard and @gingerbongo

The sandbagging is already being ramped up

Still need to sign up myself. Need to check dates with the new job. Should be fine though.

No sandbagging from me, but I’m in awful shape at the moment. Can’t even run a 20min 5k. How I ran that for a whole marathon, and a HIM run, I have no idea. Long way back for me

I totally feel you there :see_no_evil:
I’ve not ran in two weeks, last few parkrun have all been slow as I’m too embarrassed to try :man_shrugging:t4:

It won’t take long once my ankle has healed (he says as a 40 year old, forgetting he’s no longer 28 :crazy_face:)

@stenard and I have 2 of the quietest Strava accounts on the forum at the moment!

(obvs there isn’t a ā€˜spanking’ activity option)

Yeah, and it’s not going to get any better. This should be in my appropriate Lounge thread, but I’ve now found out I’m having to work the next c15 days straight (and by that I mean inc weekends), all in the office. This is apparently ā€œstandardā€ for the first two weeks of the year. :persevere:

Bike commute?

Put me in as a maybe; as it’s really close to me I don’t have a lot of excuses.

See how I feel after the early season sportive I have signed up for.

One way or another I will pop down on the day.

:woman_facepalming:t4: I knew the date sounded familiar. Some of my running friends are entering the Chester deva divas ladies tri on the same day and I’m almost tempted. First tri in 6 years - almost the same distance as Cotswolds isn’t it :joy::joy::joy::joy:

could I repeat my Chester top 10 out the water after 2.5 years of no swimming!?

This just made it onto the new 2022 calendar that Mrs GB was filling in today. It’s now real.
