On staying alive…

Magura hydraulic rim brakes, retrofitted to my P2C, replace the original rubbish brakes. Used with alloy rims, a HED Jet 6 front and FLO disk rear, I’ve ridden it with confidence on many ā€˜sporting courses’.

Electronic shifting isn’t needed for safety, but training thoroughly is!

I was of course being facetious; I don’t own a disc brake road bike either, I haven’t failed to stop yet, and I am a heavy unit.

My P5 has Magura hydraulic brakes, which work brilliantly as the rear keeps rubbing :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

My P3 had Magura T3 hydro rim brakes. They were ok to set up until I got the Firecrest 404 rims, then I had to ditch the conical washer and set them up old school .

The alternative was shaved pads but I could never find them in the compound I wanted

It was the width of my disc, I shaved the pads down with a file!

I had no faith in my ability to keep them level if I’d filed them.

I have Boardman shoes - best shoes I’ve ever had and under Ā£100.

I suspect neither Boardman, nor Halfords are very bothered about potential image problems, I bet they sell more bikes (and kit) than any other store

I have a Boardman TT. Got it because I had a Boardman CX that was a joy to ride and so much better than the Canondale the insurance company replaced it with when it was knicked. Looking at the prices for even so called entry level TT bikes now, can’t see me ever replacing it.

I have different pedals for commuting & general riding so it’s Boardman shoes for my commute & Van Rysel for the others.

DILLIGAF about the branding snobs .

Boardman Bikes were awesome though.
That AiR9.8 with the integrated cables was way ahead of it’s time.

The TT bikes were properly high spec for the price, too.

A biatch to work on though. I have a boardman air 9.8 that my son uses for TTS. Still a great bike

Yeah my Parcours rear disc is fine but they’re a pain in the arse to setup my rear HED Jet 6 - the front is fine though :man_shrugging:t2:

The Parcours disc is wider as I had the same issue with my Giant
