So if I sort out my tekkers, you reckon these chicken legs can be useful??
I think I’m definitely limited by ability/body make up than skill right now… I can even be there thinking “how can I possibly go faster” - which also suggests I’m easily distracted on not focussed on the task
see you in the mornings guys. ill line up nice and early at 08:10, in case any issues before we start at 08:30.
If you want to put your cat before your name it might be useful, but don’t worry about.
We can cruise for 9km @1.5-2.0wkg then optional tempo-sprint to finish.
See what that finish leaderboard is all about before next week.
My cycling legs are done in from this week!
I’m going for an actual real life outdoor run before this next lockdown comes.
@gingerbongo - Here’s the article I read before the race on Friday. You really need to watch your avatar. It’s also super shocking just how little power you can get away with whilst still sticking to the wheel in front.
Cheers bud, I’ll have a look. But to be honest, it’s not the racing I’m fussed on at the mo, that’s just the external motivator to work hard. I’m just looking for a really good workout over and above everything else. If I finish 20th or 30th, it’s by the by. As long as I’ve had 20-60mins of thrashing!
Maybe if I start riding a bit more, for example when this frickin lockdown comes and ruins my autumn motivational boost for a race in Dec that will undoubtedly by cancelled now (), then I can try actual racing.
Got the notification in game at 8.25 then while typing a message the leaderboard went green and I was on my own at the meeting point, took a couple of miles to get on
Daz asked if we were racing so I put the pedal down expecting a few to do the same but no-one did, sat up at 11 second lead expecting everyone to come back but that didn’t happen so pushed on, the only way I’d ever win a race
As mentioned a few of us couldn’t get in. There seemed to be a 5min to go magic window when the JOIN button popped up. So worth getting in as early as possible. Otherwise just try to be patient
The results table/leaderboard is not accurate! If we race by ‘Distance-to-go’ it seems to be based on exactly 10km covered by your own avatar. That means if your avatar randomly lines up before the start right at the back, then your 10km banner will come before other peoples…a big advantage in a bunch sprint. I crossed the line in this test ion 3rd place. But as you can see the results tavle has me at 5th. This is because my avatar lined up at the front. So my 10km banner finish (in my view) was a bit further ahead than others.
Apart from that it went like a normal meet-up, with a basic table at the end. It’s pretty worthless if you want to get accurate results though.
A TIME-BASED meet-up race would probably be more accurate as we all start at same time of course. But there will be no finish banner to sight. It’s a bit harder to race to a finish time. And can;t guarantee no issues with finish table there.
What do you guys think?
Either distance based if not too bothered about accurate results table, time-based for potentially more accurate table…or…pick (gate crash) an official race on Zwift Power.
I’d go with the latter based on the above issues, because first of all we’ll all get in, and also the results will be accurate and to cat. Safer bet.
For accuracy then yes the organised race would be the one but for the fun of knowing where people are then a private meet-up would be my favourite.
If people aren’t overly hung up on time differences then we could do as we did today but agree beforehand or during that maybe the finish/lap banner in the middle of the volcano was the finish line after x laps
Yeah I’m thinking longer stuff a meet up could work…less likely to be close sprint finishes so much.
But shorter stuff maybe organised events, and if a few in the same race gives you options to attack the pack as a group.
I don’t know about that?
I hacked mine to be smart (some Spanish website had the details, Google translate did the job for me. A club mate swapped it for a set of guards!)
About 2.9W/kg seems to stick to 3.2W/kg on the flats.
I just kept looking at the RH panel to see what I was doing versus the Swedish bloke (Wallentin?) and where @gingerbongo was
TBF, when I flicked my in game elbow, he came to the front and me the same. We worked well to reel ‘em in
