Virtual Zwift Rides

I like hills tho… its the flat bits that bore me. I’ve also completely brought into the gamification side and chasing down all the route awards
Do you sign up for each bit individually then?

yes i believe so. can just do the bits that interest you. my feeling si its so short on the saturday I can add some miles after. And yes I am chasing routes. Sundays is one I wouldn’t think of doing myself so seems a good option

Well good luck, I don’t think these people have any experience of introducing and enforcing rules on a large population, but at least they’re trying.

A green cone of shame does make me laugh, and “making you a cat D racer” too.

They seem to be controlling for the race result rather than controlling the members, which means the appearance of control - e.g. you’ll see reasonable stats on race winners, but still have no idea if they are genuine stats.

It’s a shame they dropped the ghosting idea, I actually quite liked that. A bit like a honey trap - you let the cheater cheat, with no impact to the race.

Just looked … our club is doing a Friday morning zwift equivalent of the standard Good Friday Brighton ride, with a double zwift day, and Big Foot Hills is on the agenda. Grrr!

Still, I like the idea of another multi-dayer, especially with a TT thrown in which I’ve not tried out yet. And the evening Friday race would potentially fit in with the Friday morning club rides planned.

Yes I’ve got to apologise to all on your Strava feeds - I’m chasing those route badges too.

Ticked off the short Yorkshire ones today

Also liking the gaming side to it

How many you got Adam?
I got the Queens and Duchess ones today and another flat London one (I’m still doing my morning commute to work albeit virtually). Good time to get the easy pickings.

Edit: Think I’m 29 done, 39 to go - if I can count.

35 ticked off.

Have to admit all mainly low hanging fruit - have done the shorter Alpe routes though.

Richmond is done - fortunately only three routes.

Only have royal pump room 8 left on Yorkshire
Had a crack at it a while back but didn’t get the notification.

Only done one on Innsbruck. Only seems to be on the calendar once a month

About half way through New York and London - but all the heavy hitters left on London (PRL full - FML)

Just over half of Watopia done but again all the big boys left to complete - I’ll aim for one of the mountain routes at the weekend.

Wife has a zoom night with some girlfriends tonight so decided I’m having a crack at 25 volcano laps and 100km whilst watching a movie

I really need a reason to get on the bike at the moment, and so trying to tick off courses might just do it. Have barely done any so far I think

Yeah that’s it for me. I can’t be arsed with hard intervals at the moment so anything that makes it fun - so far, so good

If only you could see the achievements without having to go into the game, to have to quit the game, to come out.
And see the course once you’ve selected it.
And get a better idea of how long the lead in to the course is.

So, random indoor training question. How do thru-axle bikes attach to direct drive trainers; is it just an adapter?

Yes I believe you can get different adaptors depending on your wheel type

Yes some of the lead ins are ridiculous

The high line in New York for example

What is the purpose of the ‘lead in’ …because it’s sure as hell not neutralised

I’ve generally found its purpose to either pi55 me off when I’m time crunched (riding 50% longer than expected). Or highly confused if I’ve actually finished my route.
I’m trying to pay much more attention to the map when you pick it (blue line is the lead in) as well as the zwift insider info on courses which sometimes mention the lead in.
The 5k lead in on a 10k course (which I assume is NY as Adam says) is a joke.

You can keep a track of your completed routes on zwifthub, although it’s all manual. Gives you details on the route however, so better than pen and paper.

Query on this … do you have to do one, save and exit, then do the other? I’m guessing so? The chopping up of activities is probably one of the slightly more annoying aspects!
