I liked it as I could pull to the front and then pull to the side to ride on my own. I was interesting seeing the pack pull in behind me before I pulled back into the centre. It does seem to work and I how there are more events like that.
I bought the Shiv Disc for the TT last night, and I was leapfrogging with a guy on a Tron. I definitely noticed an advantage on the downhill sections, and maybe the flats, but losing a little on the hills to people on the Venge or Tron. Anyway, in the end I came 4/25 in B Cat and caught a guy in the last 500m on the little rise to the finish in NYC. I think he must have been spent trying to keep me at bay!
Ranking improvement of 21; so now under 350 for the first time
All over the place!!!
@Matthew_Spooner and @Daz you seen this?
Anyone racing at lunchtime today?
My back is feeling better, so i’m going to give it a try and i’ve managed to carve an hour at lunch.
there are a few options, none of which are particularly jumping out at me, so i thought i’d turn inward…
Yeah, TdZ seems to have sucked some of the oxygen out of the general Race scene? Feels like less choice at the moment.
and low numbers in the actual races.
What’s the deal with TdZ anyway? I can’t say i understand the appeal, other than getting a big draft on some courses and your computer crashing
TdZ are ego massaging if you race them; you just need a strong start and you’re in the lead group. I have a handful of top-20 finishes and a top-10 out of hundreds/thousands!
I did one of those TFC Mad Monday Races once, and got utterly pulverised in B! There were loads of sandbaggers though.
I wasnt fussed about doing them - but the first couple I did I actually got a different race experience to other rides. Made it quite fun.
Yes @Jorgan says it did help the ego a bit. But I wasnt in the lead group for the first one.
Other thing about TdZ is it’s much easier to race them as you want. If you’re not 100% in Crit City then it’s the demotivating solo ride of shame hoping to not get lapped.
Always another group in the TdZ. Quite enjoyed a cruisey Z2 40 mins then full gas taking 120 places volcano climb to finish.
Done a few but none (yet) as a full gas throughout race but all more engaging ways of doing the ride I wanted.
There are no sandbaggers, the category is just the distance/difficulty.
The mechanics of racing on zwift is so poor that I’m not really interested in it - maybe with the steering it would be better - but these are okay as @TROSaracen says you can do what you want and still get a group to ride in, things to do that are more interesting than riding around on your own.
I’m talking about the TFC races, not TdZ.
MDCC
I’m going to have a 30 mins easy run and then join the 3R LaGuardia Super Sprint 4.4km!
Spotted a ringer during TdZ stage 5 this afternoon…
His avatar was wearing a Ryzon kit so it could be purely coincidence he was there although I thought only riders on the event would be shown?
Pro riders override the bikes and kits provided for the TDZ events (and other ones)
I’ve ridden with some Ribble-Weldtite riders recently.
I don’t know why… maybe tiredness… maybe the lack of oxygen at altitude - but this amused me all the way up the radio tower the other day…
F. Krapp?
Hadn’t even seen Krapp - no I was laughing at Lance Legstrong - Im so mature.
