Zwift TdZ Stage 8 15th place. Had a steady state ride in plan so dual ran it with Zwift averaging 234W which just a bit more than my target, but boy steady state is hard to maintain when you hit a steep incline an lose the group…
It’s been a while and was fun. Ended up in a 2 man TT for the final lap then left him for dust at 1.6km out
I fancied that - but just nothing in legs today. Dont normally get chase rides of just 2 groups.
No way Ive got a decent volcano finish in me either. 10 mins tough ask to chase!
Just about got onto the Anti-sandbagging race, cutting it fine again with about 3 minute warmup. Usual crazy start, people are well over 5W/KG.
Started in Cat B again so will probably get DQ’d but despite feeling terrible I put out about 10W more than a couple of weeks ago so slightly positive, and hip only had a slight bit of discomfort after.
Will need to see if I can manage any kind of racing on the Kickr in the next few weeks.
Like flyingelephant my legs are also feeling a bit like jelly!
I was looking at Zwift power and 2 of the riders analysis as they had 2 power reading. Such a huge difference between the devices. I’ll try and screen shoot it.
Did the Tour de zwift flat make up ride in B on the volcano flat course, very sedate start, I went hardish to make sure I wasn’t dropped up the exit from the tunnel, everyone let me get 2 second gap, so I rode hardish for a bit and it went up, then 2 riders came across and I went a bit harder, up to 5seconds by the hill, and then 6 more came across, 9 now, and put a bit of effort to drop everyone else. Easy.
Second lap, up the exit of the tunnel, cramp hit me, still with the group, but cramp has been a persistent problem recently… 9 still rolling around easy, sitting 7th in line with someone working hard I eased off as I was cramping, gapped sticky draft kept the two behind me slow too, I had enough of a sprint to get back to the group, they didn’t now it was 7.
Just after I got back, it really started accellerating - presumably someone saw there were people off the back - another one dropped, and shortly after me and another bod gapped too, 4 out front, me barely able to ride without pausing for cramp and another bod, rode in, stayed behind the guy at the sprint and we slowed so much that we were almost done on the line by two coming from behind.
6th, these make up rides are way easier than the original ones.
4:05:35 for the Uber Pretzel on the Zwift Insider ride. Sub 55min Alpe to finish.
Cracked a little on the way up when it when I’d set off to try to get sub 4hrs and realised it wasn’t going to happen. Short step off and chat to self before finishing.
Had it not been part of an event, and was chasing a mate, very high chance I’d have bailed so kudos to those who’ve punched it out solo.
