Bloody brilliant well done to you all Matt
I had a go at the 3R iTT earlier, something 36:30 I think but a good hard effort, had a 20 minute block at 289W so slowly finding a bit of fitness.
Entered Cat B again so another DQ and as it happens there was a few slower in Cat A.
Power still felt lower than RPE. Have asked when the Wattbike might reappear
Well done Matt & Daz, not sure if that link is playing up or my broadband but it’s not playing very well.
Great riding guys
Nice, well done @Matthew_Spooner and @Daz
We came second tonight in our cat B division with 43mins flat. Our sole goal was beating the team 30s ahead of us, as so long as we did that, we got promotion. We beat them by a good 20s in the end.
I really didn’t offer much. Was largely just hanging on to our two strongest riders who largely led the whole thing
Well done @stenard sounds like you have had a great series too.
Due to fiasco with Zwift Power, one of our riders results didn’t show up in the last race, meaning we came 5th. We needed to win today and FFZ to have a melt down to win our Division. We did our bit in style (well actually a sweaty exhausted heap). FFZ then had a meltdown, and finished 4th, less the 1/10 of a second behind 3rd place, meaning that we drew on points, however in the event of a drawer, the team who won the final race get the overall win… unlucky FFZ
Anyone Zwifting this alvo? I be looking for a good slog and race.
3r tickety boo- tock race at 16:10 looks like a fast un.
FCUKING POS AGEING HDD LAPTOP. Gives about a 3s battery warning then starts shutting down. Takes TEN FCUKING MINUTES to reboot. Missed my Crit race
Try again at 17.00
Great ZRL TTT @Matthew_Spooner @Daz @stenard
How’d you get on @TROSaracen
Rode with our A team in the TTT last night to come in 3rd on the day and take the win in our division.
Really enjoyed the mixture of courses over the ZRL.
Not sure if we are going to do season 3 yet. Likely aim to get outdoors over the spring/summer and come back in the Autumn/Winter season.
Very nice @Wells, well done, I bet the pace was pretty full on if your team is winning the division
Thanks @Matthew_Spooner. Not as full on as your effort !!! Real challenge for me as have upgraded over the season but really like the desire to hang on and go as hard as you can the TTT format brings.
Managed to take my turns on the front till the last few km and was then holding on as our big guns went to the front to close it out.
Last ZRL TTT last night, solid race. Enjoyed the series but our club TT series is on Tuesday so will probably give season 3 a miss.
Duathlon tonight, solid bike but absolutely p&ssing down outside, sacked the run so have re registered for tomorrow morning.
Didn’t come last in Cat A (again)
Out of a field of 7 Cat A on Zwift Power results, two were 59kg. What are the chances of that?
There are a lot of ‘Nick Nacks’ on Zwift.
That and the ‘under 16’ kids from Belgium putting out 5.6WKG for the entire race and then a 11WKG sprint at the end.
‘Nick Nacks’
Any advice how to suck less at Zwift races?
Went hard from the gate last night to try to make the front pack but after hanging on for a couple of minutes the power needed was unsustainable. Got in a group of 8-10 for the rest of the race so it was fun and a good workout but looking at the results after I have the second highest W/kg in my cat
https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=1827975 and click on cat C
Possible reasons (1) I’m a diesel triathlete, (2) I have fairly basic kit, the standard frame but I do have the DT Swiss wheels as recommended for Level 6+, (3) I have a dumb trainer so can get caught out when there’s a climb and I don’t notice it for a few seconds (think this happened when I got shelled from the front group) (4) everyone else is telling porkies?
w/kg can be almost meaningless on a flat race. I’ve entered no end of group rides looking for an easy ride at 2-2.5wkg. The power is so different for someone weighing more and on flat - to me - its raw power that is the key number.
I’ve not much experience of the dumb trainer on zwift - but the few times I tried it I really didnt like it.
Then theres the art of drafting. Don’t sit in the front 2 or 3 places, don’t sit at the back of the pack. You want to be trying to hold just off the front. But you’ll need to keep modulating your power as the back of the pack comes through. Its trying to do that without yo-yo-ing up and down the pack. Do you find you have to surge much when in the group?
I used to be really bad for not spotting I was going backwards then having to put a big effort in, if you can see that earlier (look for your rider moving to the right of the bunch) then you can apply some power without wrecking yourself.
Practicing with the pacer BOT is good - see how close you can stay.
This should not be happening! You should be taking advantage of the edge this can actually give you when the gradients change…
