Virtual Zwift Rides

Mrs GB is out tonight, so it would have to be at like 19.45 or so, which i doubt would suit anyone else.

Run has now been binned due to working on a contract dispute… but TT is more interesting.

That 1 minute power was done chasing an uphill segment (Libby hill) - knowing full well what power I wanted/needed with absolutely nothing to do once I crossed the line.
There’s no way Im dropping that power and recovering.

Tuesdays ZRL stuff - the sprints were probably 30-45 seconds inc the ramp up and effort over the line and I was way down the pack on 3 of them.

I seem to do well with repeated efforts, and the longer it goes on. Even though at the time I hate it.

I’m not saying you need to.
Just start from 800m out and smash it, hopefully dropping people.

If you can do repeated efforts for 30-45s and can recover, then you just need a multi lap course with a little riser…hmm
Attack each lap, grind the group down, maybe one will stick, maybe it won’t, but if you’re recovering and sticking with the pack, probably doesn’t matter?

Champs-Elysses might be good for that?

EDIT: your best solo results have all come from multi lap course with a short climb/kicker on each lap :+1:t3:

Ironically - one of my worst ever races is on that course. The rise up to the arc isnt steep enough, favours watts over watts/kg. I also have decent ability to commit to holding a wheel - but that switch doesnt exist so much going off the front. I’m also engrained to try and recover when I can - so opportunity for a second attack OR sit up. I’ll sit up - every time. But if someone attacked, I’d go with them. Stupid brain!

Oh, I mean the tunnel part - Av. du Général Lemonnier - where you pop out on the Rue de Rivoli

Just give it a massive dig there to create:force a break?
People might come with you?

Champs doesn’t favour Watts IRL :see_no_evil::rofl:
Especially on a one tonne Velib.
It’s bumpyAF and actually quite steep

Id’ve thought that was too short. You’re halfway up just front the draft. The best one I’ve found for me is the hairpins on makuri heading up towards the castle KOM. Thats one of the few times I’ve really pushed the pace and split packs.

We’ve gone way off tangent.

TTT would be start time of 19:18+ 7 mins. Unfortunately can’t change that now as time slots have gone out - sorry @gingerbongo

i didn’t want to do it anyway!

I often try to force selections on small inclines; but usually others aren’t committed when they join me because maybe they are sprinters ultimately, so the rest just end-up chasing back on.

Have we?
This is the Zwift thread - stuff like this is interesting! 🥸🤓

He’ll be there!

Have you actually ever tried to go for a break in a Zwift race
Unless you are way better than the chasers it is usually a fools errand, the blob always wins

So it is nothing like real life bike racing then?

Solo break, no chance.
Zwift races are often attritional rather than breaks deliberately being formed.

No. It feels like a blob has some multiplicative factor on their speed based on how big it is; it’s not really you versus whoever is at the front of the group, like it would be IRL.

Urgh.
That’s horrific.

I’m gonna have a go at some Cat C ones when I’m a bit more trained :+1:t3:

TTT link below - let me know else I’ll jump on an earlier race (Evo CC at 17:30 or Flipados at 18:20)

I’m up for it if there’s a team, but otherwise will find some other random ride to do at around the same time :+1:

Same here, assuming my destructive power doesn’t destroy the Wattbike again :joy:

How many do we need? I’m not going to hang on to you 2 for long! Unless you are having a recovery ride!

Well arguably 3 stops us getting a DQ! 3 also allows for no technicalities… and no offence - but you 2
