Did 3R six laps of flat route……didn’t feel flat when the Cat A riders put the hammer down. Got shelled about half way and formed a solid second group. Must learn to keep the powder dry then be prepared to dig deep and work to stay in the front group.
Good to hear, that’s the one I went for.
I did the Bambino Fondo ride yesterday afternoon. I got in from walking the dog a bit later than planned and I didn’t want to do a “late start” and get thrown into the ride part way through, so I joined the event and went off and got changed.
By the time I started, the event had been running for about 5 minutes and I was 930th on the road. I’d worked my way up to 680th by the time I got to the jungle. It’s amazing how many people didn’t change to MTBs for the jungle. I passed 300 people on road bikes on that section alone . I think I was about 320th by the top of the volcano
I did it yesterday afternoon too, quite enjoyed it good 90 min workout. Agree about the MTB, I switched from about 120th place and came out of the jungle in 80th place
I’m gon a give these weekly it’s a go. I’ve got ten mins to warm up from an exercise and literal pov. Shed is freezing!
No idea how to pace a 4km TT though! And yes I know what you funny guys will all say!
Need to land on a rough power number so I don’t die abojt 2 mins in!
You’ll find an afterlife
Channel your inner fruity and his 5k pacing
That’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid!
What bike for mech Isle? Tt or gravel? Ahhh
Too late as I think you are going - but TT. Deffo not gravel -its the wrong type of sand (normal bikes are faster).
HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
I can’t even hit 100w on my cool down now!
Totally and utterly blew up at half way. Full @fruit_thief that was!
At least fruity’s pain was over 18 minutes
He needs to get racing the Tiny series, or one of those omniums. The boy doesnt know what pain is
Oh I know alright. That’s why you’ll not find me anywhere near them!
@buzz smashing the iTT.
42 secs and a whole bunch of w/kg beyond my paltry effort! Also didn’t die a horrid death at half way!
Buzz 168 points on Zwiftpower and closing in on Herr Spooner
Your maths is a bit off. 6:18 v. 6:32, 4.7w/kg v. 4.2w/kg.
Yeah, i realised that later yesterday when my friend pointed the same thing out. My time on the Zwift companion app was 6.50 or something. But the ZwiftPower results gave me a 6.32 (incidentally my friend and I both had exactly the same time).
That’s not so bad then.
Just do the Tiny Races for free points. I get trailed off the bunch most of the time, but still score. Especially race 3 & 4 when the sprinters have started to tail off.
That’s usually my tactics as well, until last weekend when they had 2 uphill finishes in the final 2 races
Looking at the results in the B cat, it seems this week suited the bigger units. Though there was a little bit of climbing to be had for such a short course. The top few in B were all 90kg+, chucking out 430 odd watts.
Will the longer TTs suit a lighter rider? Or does it require more hills really for the pendulum to swing? I guess it’s the longer range, triathlete diesel powered athletes that will be able to do well on those long TTs.
