Got friends round tonight so going to use my leftover beef to make a stroganoff. Despite being a big cooking fan, can’t say I’ve ever made one before.

Not used to cooking for 10 though, so I’m sure I’ll cock up volumes somehow!

I wouldn’t worry. Three will be veggies and at least two will have started their New Year’s diet resolutions early.

Turns out numbers are dropping! :joy:

Their kids are teens/young adults now so not so interested in coming round to their parents’ friends house anf having to deal with 2 x exited young girls! Shame as my kids were super excited to see them again.

Only the one veggie to deal with though! :joy: :joy:

Turkey & leek pie. The cream sauce removes any dryness so it’s always a big hit

Mrs FT makes a “Christmas pie” with all the left over bits including turkey and veg, we all love it, best bit of Christmas :yum::yum:. Think it is on the menu for tomorrow.

It’s left over beef bourginon tomorrow (from boxing day).

Will certainly be better than the roasting joint it came from which was not great … maybe it is worth paying out for a rib …

We have a beef joint… not cooked it yet… might be a normal Beef Sunday roast.

Sounds nice, love chicken a leek pie, guess it is just as nice with Turkey.

I made potato and leek soup on Christmas eve and added a wing off the turkey.

I think it’s nicer (we also cook chicken & leek pie regularly).
I use a mixture of milk and cream and only add water to loosen the mixture if it’s a bit think before it goes in the oven … so it’s very indulgent

The Strog was a blazing success. Only downside was I probably didn’t quite make enough. But plenty of pudding anf snacks and beers/wine to make up for it!

Managed to make a mini veggie one and the main beef one. Managed to really get the flavours firing though. :ok_hand:

We had our Xmas food judged just right this year. Our turkey crown was 1.5kg, which gave enough for Xmas lunch and leftovers for Boxing day. We bought just the right amount of ham and veggies.
Which meant we didn’t bring a ton of perishable food to Mum’s when we came.
LO wanted smoked salmon on toast for birthday breakfast with Mrs FP, happy to report that all went in one sitting. :face_vomiting:

With creame cheese, chives, touch of pepper, squeeze of lemon, maybe a few capers :yum: I might shop that later…

nearly had that for brekkie but decided to keep the salmon for later - had poached eggs on sourdough wholemeal instead
