What bike? Everyone has a bike opinion, give us your best. I need a new one

You can use this site to get a known good XY dimensions of your handle bar position by picking the frame & stem with spacers, then you can see what other bike/frame/setups will get you to the same position.

Thanks, I’ll have a look.

I’d got this far before I lost the will to live…

Then I thought why am I comparing to the Canyon when I’ve never been convinced its ideal.

I spoke to one of the Canyon guy at an event and they said I was in between on the Speedmax, and on the Ultimate there would be more adjustment on the medium but I could go small and there was enough adjustment, the bike would be more agile/responsive (probably meant sketchy lol ), not sure if that it true though.

I have 5 good bikes all with rim brakes
All dura ace / sram red
Compared to modern 12 speed disc brakes they are basically crap.
Bikes move so fast these days

Nothing wrong with rim brakes 99.9% of the time imo.

The only time I’ve ever had a issue is coming off Dartmoor in the pi$$ing rain -25% in parts and couldnt feel my hands. I wonder how that would have workouted out with disk brakes but other than that.

Love the Sram red groupset.

  1. No so much when I’m riding them these days
  2. Marketing would have you believe that.
  3. If you mean the price yes they move up quickly

 :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have 5? Sram red groupsets all 10 speed plus spates
If I could fit 30 mm tyres on my bikes I would keep them all
I’m a crap descender I’m hoping discs help, tried them once and they were amazing

Opinions please?

Just showed Mrs FT & amazingly it wasn’t a flat out no… stuff got a little bit real.

Good bike or could I do better? TT bike, fairly kind on the neck, £5K absolute top of budget

You may (or not) want to consider how easy it is to maintain/work on the bikes on your short list. Suffice to say, nonthing these days seems simple with all the integration.

I been buying one of these since 2020, not happened so far.

Mind you, almost never in stock since covid… about 2-3 weeks per year… In 2023 I finally decided to go for it, and yeap, left it a week too long.

Now I tell myself if I get back to 2hr power of 250w then Ill treat myself (until then roadie)

Might keep waiting and eventual fall on a s/hand.

Nice bike, does it include the wheels in the picture?

Jorgan has a point and some bike shops will charge more. Part of the reason I liked the P-series as a lot of the front end is changeable at cost.

That is a lot of bike for the ££££.

The dilemma I have with S/H is…

It still seems alot. I alway think I would want at least50% off new price.

Then there is the transaction…

Collect…
Is it genuine (get a fair few that say stuff like 2023, but when you check the serial number its a few years older)

Like I say Id want at least 50% off new price

Could pick that one up and the way to moving the daughter into here new accommodation for year 3.

There is also a 2020 rim brake for about the same with Zipp wheels 404? Just down the road from me in Wolverhampton (at least I could use my current wheels)

Doesn’t @Chriswim have one?

Might have to call it a doctors bike?

I got nearly 66% off on the Orro I bought and it was less than a year old.
(It’s certainly a 24 model
Brand new the groupset which is exactly the same was the price I paid for the whole bike. )
Date of purchase ( it could have been hanging around in a shop for a bit?)

Personally I think any shimano manual tt bike looks hideous on the front end and di2 would be a must have … but that’s just me.

We buy lots of S/H bikes in this house, I can’t think of one which is less than 60% off, most quite a bit more? Perhaps we wait a bit longer?

I don’t think I’d ever buy a brand new now!

Taycan levels of depreciation % wise.

I went to Birmingham 10 years ago with my mate
He bought a bike that had done 2 ten mile tts
And two hours on a turbo

It was totally unmarked assuming the guy paid brand new list price he lost about 4 grand in under 3 hours use
A thousand quid an hour ! +
Even more than doctors and dentists get paid.
