Anyone else thinking that tat’s not a million miles removed from a pretty uncomfortable symbol sometimes associated with WW2?

Closing date ?

There’s no protocol here but for info I warmed up with a km jog with a few bursts to 12, then 13, then 14. Then stood around waiting. My turn came and I started at 10, cranked it up to speed over a few hundred metres then set it at target speed for a click.

Hmm. Doesn’t need to be one, but you could become TT Champion for 2022 if you do it before NYE!

Otherwise I win by default - the best kind of winning there is. :trophy:

Nuts to think Kipchoge can do that for 2 hrs

I had a patient a few months ago with Hitler’s face on his chest. And the classic exam Q of do not resuscitate across the left side.
They were probably two of the nicer ones too.

Just ran my first continuous 1km on the treadmill: 8 minutes, hope you guys are going to be able to keep up…

Well I probably should go find another thread, because there is no treadmill involved, but on Wednesday I’m going to be doing a 1000m race at the track. I’m also going to be doing a 3000m later in the evening, which will be fun :face_vomiting:

Last year I did a 4:59 mile and a 2:13 800m on the track, vdot calculator gives 59.x for those, and that would suggest a 2:50 for the 1km :astonished: I’d planned to aim for 2:55.

I should have plenty of people to chase, looks like I’m the slowest seed of 13.

I ran a 2:59 and 4:59 when @gingerbongo had us doing them in lockdown. Thought I got identical scores for those, but might not have been Jack Daniels might have been a difference race predictor. Think they also went 5o a sub 17 prediction that I still need to find 1 second for.

ETA: my 1km was point to point, and I seem to remember it being a fraction assisted so can’t fathom a 2:50 :exploding_head::clap: although the mile was a circle with a definite down and up so maybe not a perfect comparison.

I need to stop reading this. I’m really not in good shape (for me) for fast stuff at the moment, as proven with my last few interval sessions. This has got me looking back to when i was doing the odd shorter session etc.

Looks like my 1km PB was set during a mile TT which was also a PB! So i guess i could’ve gone a little quicker for the km if i raced that solo. But this was back in 2014 :sob: :sob: :older_man:

I’m intrigued as to what i could run these days; but at the same time i don’t think i’d like the answer.

No idea how you’ll be able to run a 3km after a 1km though @BadAsh . I was no good for anything after any of these types of flat out races. I would be lying on my back panting and wanting to vomit! My 3km PB i think was probably a bit soft. I set it in the middle of a big block of that crazy high mileage but all at 5.00/km pace or slower. I clearly had more left in the tank looking at the Strava, as i accelerated to a 61 sec final 400m!

Good luck with it all though!!!

If we’re trawling for old PBs I think I have a track 2:39 from when I was 16 based exclusively off swim training and some lunchtime football in school playground. Years of run training later and zero chance I’m going close to that.

Yeah i didn’t do any running races as a youngster outside of xc and stuff. But i’d imagine i’d have been pretty quick over the short stuff. I applied it on the rugby and football pitch instead … coupled up with my non existent skill!

Mine was having a go a tbe school biathlon championships run as part of modern pentathlon organisation.
Very quickly realised there was no point being a good swim-runner when I was never going to try to ride a horse! Took 10 years before I thought maybe using that ability to just learn to ride a bike instead.

Being so far north, I’d have thought you’d have been in your skis with the gun then instead! Use that vo2 max to great effect. :joy:

Modern pentathlon, such a mad sport. Swimming and running fair enough, shooting is ok too. But sword fighting and dancing on horses? What is this, Zorro?

Love watching it once every 4 years though :crossed_swords::racehorse:
