Used to be three laps of the top of the Island at about 40 km. Been just one lap for a while but does bring the bike time more in line with the swim and run. I think they probably had an issue with everyone blasting down Easton main street multiple times (long, straight downhill to here and there’s a zebra crossing just round the bend).
@JeffB - Are you coming Sunday?
@d.t - You all ready, too?
Me? I’m on my sprinting at 1030, so probably won’t see you both
Looks like Sefton (Southport borough) is also on the “Indian Variant” surge testing list.
FFS
Think we’ve got @Adam laying it up against @chickenboy at Dorney as well this weekend?
Ooh, I’d forgotten @Adam was at Dorney. I’m in tmrw morning 10:30 kick off. You in tmrw or Sunday @Adam
@Poet good luck at Southport. Quite a few TTTers racing there. I suspect you’ll have most of them quite worried, your form is looking
. Kick it in the
Nothing less than an AG win please Mr CB
Possibly the most appropriate race number for this weekend. I got slightly confused when I first opened it
Haha, why am I feeling the pressure?
You not making the trip up?
I’m only sprinting - aren’t your lot doing the Oly Qualifiers.
Oh - and cheers!
Knackered today, but a day of rest to fettle with my race bike!
Nope, not coming. Not booked any accommodation and can’t face getting up about 3AM for a 6 hour round trip.
Freezing cold lake that I’m likely to get hypothermia from.
After 4 consecutive race weekends I need to back off a little bit, despite the 10 last night.
Shame because I was looking forward to it, but the cold really doesn’t agree with me
Have a good race though, and everyone else that’s racing this weekend.
Yeah I’m Sunday @chickenboy - weather is looking shit for both days. Obviously it is as I’ve entered
Wonder what the lake temp is?
It’s age group waves anyway isn’t?!
Yeah, I’m not doing the Qualifier stuff. Just in the cranky old AG
.
Good luck too big man. I’m going full aero wa#%er
Yeah same
Saw your chain too
Couldn’t be bothered with the qualifier. No idea how big the waves are but I’ll go hell for leather out of T1
Yeah, I’m all set. I’m feeling pretty decent despite rubbish sleep this week. Bagged 9 hrs last night and hopefully get another good sleep tonight before 4am wake upon Sunday! Good luck for your sprint - sounds like you’re in a good place atm. What times are you aiming for?
@jeffb shame you’re not doing it but I can see why. Hopefully catch you at another event this year
Dunno!
I’ve never done >40kmh at a multi sport event.
Ran under 18 mins loads, but I’m not at that level now.
If I’m on the bike in under 12:30, I’ll be happy.
Swim time is always hard for me in open water.
I get panicky.
Bike? It’s bang on 20km with nice roundabouts,
So 31 minutes ish?
Run looks the correct distance, so about 19 minutes of utter misery.
63 mins would be very good for me!
65 probably more realistic.
EDIT!!!
Transitions look MASSIVE!!!
2:30 for T1
1:30 for T2

1:03:xx would win it.
1:10:xx would be Top 10.

Bugger.
Hah yeah - I was thinking that! Transitions in 2019 averaged between 2 and 3 min and they’ve made it bigger! 2nd run lap for standard distance looks a bit wonky but he said it looks worse than it is!

Hoping there’s enough room on the bike course to avoid accidents!
Run and bike don’t cross.
That’s your lap 2.
I don’t do that bit
Yeah - just thinking if there will be problems when people are getting onto the bike course, with others already on and coming through. I’m sure everyone will be polite
ON YER RIGHT D’HEAD
Ha ha ha - I’m already practising it.
Gonna seed myself mid-pack for the swim and draft the whole 750m.
Then just do one MAHOOSIVE take over manoeuvre slingshotting my way all the way up and down marine drive

Hang on for dear life for the run
