It clicks when I walk which it didn’t before but hopefully it’s fluid causing that. MrsB heard it when I walked out of the bedroom this morning and said “should it sound like that?”. It’s difficult to answer some questions without a hint of sarcasm escaping
Ok, in theory I missed most of my targets, but actually had a decent year considering the different types and lengths of the races.
Only did 2 half’s and one was in the hurricane at Blackpool, 1:27:37 was about on target in the other race though
Boston was a bit more undulating and windy than expected but not far off with 3:15
Didn’t get near 4:50 on the 70.3 for a few reasons, but would have been close on a flatter course at both StG and Holland, and did get the WC slot
Yeah I missed some of mine, achieved others, but despite injury derailing my running I had a good year and enjoyed it. Reminding myself this time 12 months ago I could barely swim 400m freestyle without needing to stop.
Most of my targets were met (attempt to podium at AG level) bar the partial accomplishment at European du champs (1st GBR in AG) but being injured for the last 5 weeks has made me scale back the 2023 goals.
Didn’t really hit any goal other than the 10k one, and then the mile one I set mid year. But have made decent progress with my running over the shorter distances and found a bit of a love with track racing.
Set a few PBs (not hard when you’ve not done something before), and will use these to set some targets for next year.
Running-Track
100m - 75.9% [74] - definitely room for improvement on the start
400m - 57.9 - 80.89% [71.4]
800m - 2:12.8 - 81.56% [63.3]
1500m - 4:44.4 - 77.73% [57.8]
1mile - 4:59.03 - 79.96% [59.7] - a club V40 record
3000m - 10:30.67 - 72.95% [55.6]
Swimming
200m - 2:52 (tied all time PB. Swam this after the below 400m)
400m - 5:55
Hardly been on the bike at all, think I entered a single TT, and fell off it at the 113
Next year I hope it will be more of the same with a focus on running & track. I guess aiming for WAVA 80% on the longer distances will be the target in the future (might take more than a year)!
Something to do with those iTTs perhaps but I don’t quite understand where that number has come from. But whatever , anyway, that’s it, I’m retiring. See you on golftalk
I’ve had a bit of a crap year so it’s a good thing I didn’t set any goals
Started so well too - did a 100 mile sportif round Shropshire in March in exactly 7 hours which is fast for me, then a decent century ride in April round Snowdonia.
And then I got some kind of chest infection - might have been long covid or a reaction to the third jab or something completely different but it lingered into the summer. At the same time I extended a work contract and my training plans tanked.
So I went on my cycling trip to the Alps much less fit and somewhat heavier than planned - and it was hideously hot which I have never been able to deal with.
I had some great days out hiking and some decent rides but overall, was a disappointing summer.
Hardly done anything since September due to work and lack of motivation. On the plus side, family life has been great and working more than planned has boosted the retirement kitty.
Back on the bike from today - plan for 2023 is to finally do my second trip round Wales - I think I plotted the route back in 2019 after my first trip! 6 days, 630 miles, 15000m ascent
I made 50% of my weight loss target. To be honest Im actually pretty happy with that because I think losing it all in one year was probably too big a target.
Didnt reach my strength targets but I was badly hampered by my shoulder injury.
For next year Im going for losing the rest of the weight I need to and im aiming for 2 runs, 2 bikes and 3 weights session a week as goals.
