Not that I can see…shame really, given everything else the cost of that would be minimal, surely.

Not bad at all off no training as @jeffb put it.
Couldn’t find it in time, so
Close!

Fantastic effort.
Well done Jeff! Enjoy your celebrations
28th in cat, first Brit, sure you can dine out on that in a local restaurant
Very Decent
Can’t wait for the race report
Great day out, I’m sure there’ll be stories to tell. Time to drink some fizzy, piss weak American lager.
No e one Jeff. Well done on a borrowed hire bike too
Just not Bud Light!
Yes Jeff!! Wow!
Well done Jeff, solid effort that
Outstanding Jeff, wohoo
Hey now.
Looking at Jeff’s Strava, it was a straight out & back bike - as GB mentioned - followed by the most convoluted run route possible
I wonder how @jeffb found it. Potentially totally soul destroying, just riding in a straight line, no respite. Bit like zwift I guess!
Busso is pretty much like that and flat AF
Thanks everyone. Was reasonably pleased with that given the circumstances, possibly sneak under 4:50 on another day with some changes.
Swim, erm yeah, reflective of my training although I clocked it slightly long. Also used my manky old wetsuit and haven’t done an open water swim for about 7 months!
Bike, fairly pleased with it given the circumstances. It was just like a 50 on the A19 which generally suits me and as you can guess the was a strong tail/head wind. Road surface was generally excellent, about 40 miles on fresh smooth tarmac.
Tried to pace with RPE and had a reasonable idea the way back would be hard. The swim was rolling with 3 at a time and a few 5 minute breaks which meant very little drafting I was too far behind people I’d have cycled with. I did see a few small groups coming the other way though.
2:33 on a bike I’ve never ridden before, stock wheels and tyres and not using all my aero stuff was quite pleasing. Managed to stay on the TT bars most of the way but was getting a stiff neck at the end. Had 3 Maurten gels and the gatorade they were handing out.
Was feeling it in the last 10k and I’d have had the saddle a bit higher in hindsight as it was giving my left hip some grief.
TBH the lack of rest on the Wattbike on Zwift made it great training, but could have done with buzz, Tupperware and fruity to savagely drag me along
Needed the loo in T2 which cost about a minute!
First few K’s on the run were unpleasant. If you’ve seen the course you’ll see how twisty it was. It was also very crowded with at least 1k athletes on a 7K loop so quite a lot of weaving around. Was generally sticking to coke and water by then and realised I probably wasn’t going to do 1:39.
Was suffering a bit from 10K but kept ticking the K’s off. It was about 25c and still windy in places. I normally don’t mind that heat but coming from a north England winter makes it tough. Even in summer we only get that a few days per year. Had the race been later in the year I’d have hoped for at least 1:36, although the route didn’t help.
So after only one triathlon (a sprint) since September 2019 I’m fairly happy. Had Covid in February and felt rough most of this week. And I’ve not done much in the way of long bike rides.
Was battered after the race but recovering now.
Great race from @leahnp today at Yorkshire duathlon. Cracking run splits, there’s some stretches on track and long grass which saps the speed as well!
Thanks @jeffb Back after the drive up and a bottle of champagne downed in rapid time. 5th overall at the Yorkshire Duathlon which doubled up as the English Du champs and Euro qualifier…
First oldy V45 back and a pretty windy day and that course is brutal. Marshalling error on course meant it was reduced to 9.3KM but was on for a 35:00 10km .
So boxes ticked with a win for the boy as well and 2023 Euro qualification done.
I was surprised when I saw your run as it was pretty much bang on 10K last year. Probably quite chilly as well?
