Sounds amazing Jeff, and in great wine country by the looks of things to. I am very attracted to the idea of a swim course that could double up as a lazy river ride!

Cor, you did keep that on the downlow

St George is going to be horrendous for you! :joy::joy:

I presume you’ll drive from SanFran / Sacramento down to LA then over through Vegas to St George?

You could get on the Pacific Highway that looks awesome to drive on your way down

I think the only other road takes you to Salt Lake City and the wrong end of Utah

I see the race is sold out (yeah I just checked) no chance of me getting FOMO now and doing something silly :joy:

Nice… remind me never to play Jeff at poker.

But you do an ironman , and then you do a 70.3 … which bit of this is the “holiday”

Paul, yes I think the bike does go through vineyards although I don’t like wine so it is somewhat lost on me!

Adam, haha, yeah StG is not going to be pleasant, particularly the run. Although it depends on how Cali goes. I’ll probably be driving as I’ll have the bike with me, trying to get the last bits sorted this week. I haven’t got a great deal of time for the drive as I’m booked into StG from Wednesday and tried to avoid doing much the day after the IM.

There’s a few routes and I could head straight to Bakersfield and maybe see the Sequioa NP on the way, there’s also a slightly more rural route that takes you near Death Valley and either north or south of Area 51  and onto Vegas, they aren’t much further.

I just need to get the bike transport sorted this week before booking the last few loose ends.

Then I can relax and start training

Erm Fruity, yeah I’m trying to work that bit out myself, do you think I could do a solo Alcatraz tri the week before?

A good day out for Mrs T

Started out strong - perhaps a bit too much so (but not sure it would have made a huge difference at the end).

Recorded her second fastest half for the first 13 miles

Wheels started to come off after 30km but very proud that she persevered.

No back chat from her until 39km which was a minor miracle - my words of support by that stage had become somewhat grating apparently

Circa 4:48 - haven’t figured out the chip time yet

Cascais IM do I put in a last minute entry, yay or nay?

  • Yay
  • Nay
  • Annoying but mandatory third option

Pros and cons list is endless sigh.

My only IM 70.3 so far. I enjoyed it. Bike course was good with some hills and fast decents. Couldn’t enjoy the run too much as I was having some stomach issues and stacked fatigue from a mara and a half mara the 2 weekends before.

@Sowler @Mr-me I think you both raced there last year?

Bike box from airport to cascais by train reasonable option?

Cant remember the reasonable airlines with bike boxes. I usually go with BA.
