2023 races

probably saw there was no meat worth the effort (unlike some of us on here who would be a propper feast)

Was supposed to be doing a 170K sportive around the Dales tomorrow but the forecast is utterly hideous so I’m not even getting up for it. Luckily only about £40 down the pan :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Level 42 on Zwift beckons :joy:

Alarm set for 4am. Think it’ll be ok. What doesn’t kill you, etc etc……

Has anyone done, or is doing Gdynia?

Was a TO at the Welsh Aquathlon Champs this morning. Got wet. Very very wet. Even my underpants were wet. I think those competing were probably drier.

ETA: on the way home we passed one of the checkpoints for the Beacons Ultra which is on today. 100 miles over the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons via the Beacons Way. In this weather that is going be one tough fucker.

And their trackers are all down. Not a great look.

I did 92/100 miles of that in the winter version. Still rankles that I was unable to complete due to injury. :pensive:

There is practically zero visibility on the tops and it’s been pissing down since early doors so I suspect many will DNF/DNS (even at £165 entry price)

Not me, but a guy I coach did EagleXman today. One for @Toyota_Crown as it was also in Italy! My athlete did the “Olympic” but a half and full there in Gran Sasso also. 226 bike goes up 3500m , run 2000m :hushed: altitude ~3000m on parts

Comes recommended now, sort of race to bring me out of retirement

4hrs for 1500m, 50k, 6.6k, he did sub 2.30 at Dorney the other week for comparison. Said the run was vertical until last k. Most had poles!

Presume the full distance needs a support crew?

Hmmm. Interest piqued. Sure beats doing the Celtman again and freezing tits off in swim. Or the dumbed down Lanza bike course.

… goes off to browse website…

Yes, last 6k of run you need a support runner, you also need someone in T1 collecting stuff. They only recommend support car on bike though you’ll need to be self sufficient if not

One of the local O/W swimming groups reckons the sea at Sunderland was only 12.6c yesterday

Unless I’m misunderstanding the guidelines I think it could be reduced to a 1K swim?

correct. that would be the max distance at that temp and could be shorter or cancelled if other conditions are of concern - wind, air temp etc. decision will be made as close to the event start as possible
