2023 races

I didnt even bother opening the email - what with not being able to run more than 5k.
Good job it was cheap!

GV70 (a new middle distance one in Aberavon, Wales) and I was wrong on the 2nd, Birmingham Tri, in that they have cancelled one part of the event on safety grounds due to weather and not a full cancellation

Yeah, I’d written off the full race weeks ago but was planning to do the swim and bike as it’s only a 40 minute drive. Still could but I don’t fancy freezing my nuts off on the bike for nearly 3 hours in the rain.

I’ll make a call in the morning.

Yep, lashing it down and freezing, bollocks to the triathlon in this :rage:

Parkrun instead :joy:

Looks like I made the right decision, bike leg cancelled. So it would have just been a swim for me.

Didn’t even venture outside. Tiny Races for me, I have a ranking again.

TT tomorrow if the forecast holds.

A mate of mine is doing the Norseman today and he was really determined to get a black t-shirt, but I’ve just checked the tracker and they’ve had to close the top of the mountain owing to thunderstorms.

That’s a shame, he won’t be happy about it but I’m sure it was a good decision.

Chris out of the swim in 35 minutes at Duisburg, bike looks fairly rapid, first 23K at 38kph, and I think he normally starts pretty conservatively, or is that when running.

Lad I know did the first 23k @44kph!

Like the look of this race, not that difficult to get to either.

2:24 bike split for Chris - very nice indeed

Was it challenge London today, or is that next week?

Swam 1:44/100 in both Olympic and sprint distances :sweat_smile:

They held up the races after I went into the water for the sprint, rumour was that someone passed away in the water. :latin_cross:

My teams finished in 3h14 and 1h53 respectively, all novices to triathlon, all massively keen on doing thre individual next year.

I’m actually keen on doing more relays, very different affair. :muscle:

The swims at both the 70.3 & full at Ironman Poland (Gydnia) today were cancelled due to high winds.

I had a friend - who swims like a fish - there doing his first IM, he’ll be more than a little disappointed.

Yes thanks folks longer report to follow but 70.3 Duisburg

  • stupidly easy swim with underwater wires to guide you from buoy to buoy no need to even sight
  • bike was fast, sadly one aero bar came loose so lost a bit of time riding weird one arm aero, one on the hoods hybrid style
  • run was a sufferfest as weird hybrid riding position definitely strained the back
  • classic Euro draft-fest.
  • ridiculously stacked (although note draft fest)
  • was staggered that Taupo slots were snapped up, not much rolling at all. Looks like dentist’s all fancy (and can afford) a trip to the Land of the Long White Cloud.

The few bits I saw online it looked absolutely miserable. They make a big deal of the beach side activities at that one so will have made it all a washout presumably. Tough for your mate but hope they are enjoying a few Polish beers tonight.

Rapid starts for chickenboy and mrme at Copenhagen this morning, almost alongside each other

Spectating my girlfriend at Copenhagen today, good start from her in 1:08 swim.

My god there’s some horrendous swimmers, surely they can’t be enjoying it
