Obviously a #humblebrag
Just drove past yours, too
#TriStalk
Cheers
Nice to briefly see you!
Yeah, the run course if four miles of 50% trail, 25% decent tarmac, 25% knackered old road (seems like the footballers and managers don’t like paying to have their road tarmacced )
Anyways … little report for y’all
Swim: swam in the same lane I usually do. At the same pace as recently. Only with different people. Nice and easy 6:23
T1: Actually felt good, but actually slow.
Bike: rode at 70.3 power as I know I can do that. Rear mech launched into the rear wheel, leaving a score mark. Wrestled that back into position, uneventful. Same road I cycle home on all the God damn time
Just slightly uphill into a headwind today, as the slight wind had whipped up into the opposite direction to taunt me.
T2: Laughable. Couldn’t get my shoes on. Fat feet wouldn’t go in them
Run: Ran at my recent pace until the last two km when I pushed slightly. Did a 4:13/km then got scuppered by the darned steps
Nice seeing my wife, daughter and dogs at the finish.
My wife then commented that the goody bag was better than Stafford
Pretty pleased to have done it, I did a triathlon in 2023 which was one of my goals
Nice one, sounds pretty positive!
No breathing issues? Due to reducing effort?
Oh no.
I still have breathing issues.
A 70.3 effort is “max” - just sort of stops there.
What’s the course like? From what you said it sounds a bit… odd?
Lots of traffic?
Steps on the run?
Multi-terrain run?
Well done @Poet , what happened with the rear mech, forgot to reset limit screws?
@APM - Yeah, it’s odd! Coming out of Wilmslow isn’t great (for out of towners)
Basically a few residential streets with massive speed bumps (school rat run) and then a huge oval roundabout and then down through the airport tunnels (dual carriageway, 50mph, but nobody sticks to that)
Rest of it is country and rural, until you get to Lindow Common Cricket Club, which is where Wilmslow starts again.
Run course is a footpath next to the railway line and bypass, which is where the steps come in.
Then down Torkington Road (don’t trip over gawping at the nice houses!) and then a little bit more tarmac, before hitting the footpaths again.
I probably wouldn’t recommend it as a race to travel for, but if you’re local(ish) then it’s good
I’d do it again …
… although Southport is the same price and flat. Pan flat.
3m elevation for the whole course, and that’s the slipway coming out of the swim.
Closed roads, too.
After ForestMan, then Cots113, Southport takes 3rd place
@FatPom - No. more imbecilic than that The gold chain was for Bolton. And is sized for a 50/34 not a 55/42, so it just went über tight when I cross chained it at 55-27
Your poor disc. Is it fooked then? You’re the third person on TT this year to post about derailleur into “spokes”.
Good work actually doing a tri this year. I’ve done nowt of note since Mallorca Envious.
Dunno, IMUK also put a hole into it after my DNF, whilst it was unprotected in the van with other bikes smashing into it
No idea if it’s gone-ski, I’ll just keep riding it until the hole falls out of the middle, then sue Mavic
(this is a joke, well, the second part is )
On TT1 back in the day we used to have a gym based test, row, bike, treadmill. IIRC @explorerJC did an Iron distance World Record (real one, not the made up WR like that other “P.co.” guy )
Yes I did I short one May last year when I was 80+ kilos
Row and bike went well … run was 3? Kms on a treadmill we’re I went from 2nd 3rd starting the jog to 7th?! Lol.
8 k is the total hyrox distance and I’ll be pretty
“ compromised “ when I start it so might have a punt ?!
a few years ago…the record stood for some years but was broken a couple of years ago…
i also broke the treadmill 12 hour running record…which lasted about a fortnight…
Big Cow put a few on back in 05 - to about 08…
I think they need to edit the distance - kilometre should read metres!!
28,000km cycle!!!
8,000km run!!!
Are you living at OP then?
28 k bike
8 k run
It’s 4.3 k round?
They do a cut out bit that makes it shorter?
Be nice to get under 2? Hours
They do a middle distance duathlon that is won is 3-4 hours plus?!
That sounds like a fun thing to give a try in the gym! (well run outside) At least once my heart rate situ is sorted!
