There is a HIM on my doorstep in Wooton under edge I am eyeing up in June.

That used to be in the Forest of Dean, we cycled the (old) bike route in the summer as part of a weekend away with the Tri Club. 2 laps with a 1000m of climbing per lap, I bailed after 1 lap as I genuinely think the 2nd would have killed me, and went for a play in the forest on the MTB instead.

Interesting that Woburn has be binned again. Low entry numbers apparently.

OW Swimming seems to be doing ok though. Got an email from Chillswim, they have added a 2nd day on Coniston as they have filled it and had loads more interest, Windermere end to end is full and looks like the Ullswater one isn’t far off being full either

Biggest con there is, that.
We will charge you £95 to swim for 75 minutes in a lake which is usually free
But you get a medal and have to pay for parking.

Ohhhhh, I may have missed the boat.

I entered the Outlaw Swim, 2.5k.

Must admit, though, in the last Sprint I thought I’m not doing this for 3.8k.

If you’ve missed the boat you’ll obviously need to swim

You could say that about most races. What do you actually get from events? In MK, £50 for a marathon on paths that I can run on whenever I want, chip timing, I have a Garmin, medal dont give a shit, cup of water and couple of jelly babies on course. Great.

Competition.

Yeah. That.
With cycling and running, I can usually find an extra gear and ramp it up.

Do that with swimming and I’d drown.

If I’m swimming Coniston/Windermere, I’d prefer to do that as a hop-type thing, stopping off at the islands etc.

The Coniston events they have a boat every mile with drinks and sweets. Was good to break it up

I know this is first world problems but the Euro duathlon champs have been announced as mid March near Venice and then 5 weeks later the Worlds are to be held in Ibiza. The news is not going to be welcomed by the CEO

Yeah, I knew that but that’s what I meant, tell her it’s a business trip

Surely Venice is an easy sell, or maybe Ibiza is more her style. Either way, I normally find the sentence “How do you fancy…” normally gets the reponse “What’s the event?”

Yeah, sounds like it could have been a lot worse: Rotterdam and Port Talbot for example

My wife refuses to travel to races as she say I am unbearable to be with in the build up. I’m either :100: focused on the prep and the event (stressing) or I’m catching up with the guys I have raced over the years. I am usually in and out from an event so no time to do the tourist stuff
