2023 Weigh-in Thread

I debated the best place to post this, as the quote below is from the CICO thread.

@pacha – This made me smile, as I’ve slowly lost ‘chub’ by eating less & training more. :sunglasses:

However, I know my diet has merely gone from atrocious to less bad, rather than good.

Thankfully, this book has shown me the light and I highly recommend it.

@Poet will like that it is packed with #ScienceFacts, some of which are really eye-opening. :astonished:

My key take aways were:
That UPFs could not be considered as food, but as an “industrially produced edible substance”.
There are designed to be addictive and pass-by the way humans evolved to eat food.
Their addictive properties are all geared to driving company growth and profits.
Today’s food industry is the same as cigarette makers selling the health benefits of smoking in ‘60s.

Note – I’m sure many on here will know all this already, but it really helped me.

Previously, my bad lunch habit included crisps, which were obviously ‘junk’ food.

So, I’d replaced them with a ‘healthy’ yoghurt, which turns out to be UPF.

These days, I now make a big bowl of ‘real’ fruit salad to dip into. :sunglasses:

I’ve still got a long way to go, but understanding my addiction to crisps and chocolate does help.

Cheers, Paul.
