2024 Races

Hi no we havent, hence the initial comment from London about not knowing about them. On Facebook we have TimArmitFyldeTri which holds lots of information, photos etc.

Can I suggest that you do set up a website?? You’ll get better exposure than a FB page - which, by the way, looks like a personal one, not a business one? - and will come up in searches if someone is looking for say, Fleetwood Tri. It’s also a better way to disseminate info about your events, publish route maps, send out race briefs.

I know you may think one isn’t needed but the best EOs I have worked with as a TO have very good websites which adds value to their events.

As an example check out https://www.eastbournetriathlon.co.uk/ . I worked with the EOs from the start of their involvement with this event (and others they now run) and their site really enhances their biz. I should add I have no investment with the organisers, just like the way they go about informing the world about their events.

@leahnp your mate Donald Brooks has had all his bikes stolen. It’s on Devon Live website.

Yeah i saw that. Only nicked the top bikes though, so proper targeted.

Entries are now open for the (Brownlee’s) Ripon Triathlon festival, they’re not well found by google etc. and the website is crap for now.

Anyway, £180 for the 70.3 but the route I can see suggests it could be a slightly lumpy bike leg, although it starts at a more reasonable 8am.

£70 for the standard

** both have got 10% off if you enter this month

HTTP404 on that link now. This one works now https://www.racespace.com/gb/tbf-events/ripon-triathlon-festival

Doesn’t appear to be a BTF event, surprisingly - no Female/Open, no Race Pass

The course map is still crap, I’ve got a feeling it’s probably still getting sorted, I’d be surprised if it doesn’t get a BTA licence

Probably took over it and want to start getting entries in before people enter other events

These look good. Hopefully I can get to one of them :+1:

St Annes Tri May 19th The 2024 St. Annes Triathlon | BookitZone | Online Event Entry Service
Fleetwood Tri Sept 22nd The 2024 Fleetwood Triathlon | BookitZone | Online Event Entry Service

I can only wish them well if they’re collecting the wrong data now with a hope of fixing it later. Paid-up participants tend not help with organiser admin problems

So project hyrox came to a big milestone in Manchester yesterday with an actual race

( again I’m sorry for boring the non interested swim bike runners with woeful tales of sleds, burpee jumps and wall balls ! Start scrolling down now )

Firstly I’d put it down as a fail, breaking with time honoured tri talk traditional sandbagging I’m actually going to be honest.

I had my eye on that 55-60 podium
Looking at last years times I’d have been very near too !
However …
This sport is growing at a huge rate and the goal posts have moved significantly.
As I first timer I made some mistakes but there wasn’t much more I could have done.
The winner (55-60) was 9 mins ahead and ran 4:30 kms, a lot harder than it sounds I ran 4:55? Ish average and can’t complain after a jiggling foot injury.

Very pleased with all my stations bar the very last one ( John sowler was actually twice as fast on this one)
8 mins of torture were I proposed to my judge and gave a kiss as I ran across the line ( she was a lady!)
Lots of supporters from our gym who were very complimentary on my efforts but there is 100% more in the tank.
Lots of triathletes having a go, chatting to a challenge Roth Shifter think he went well.

I really really enjoyed it and will do another, later in the year but time for some more “ traditional “ efforts in between, it was so nice to see Sowler flying round the track, top 10 row split ?! For a smaller guy that is incredible, pretty sure he got his targets overall.

Scores on the doors

Gary fellows 1:21:50 7 th in age group ( much smaller numbers )
John sowler 1:05! ( flash twat ) inside top ten of a huge AG
Sebastian Kienle 1:09 triathlon legend ( pro weight) 9 th AG. A full 22 mins ahead of Joe skip but being German he probably actually trained for it.

Sorry for rambling on…. MUNGO

Interesting write up. So just out of curiosity how many different exercises to you have to do over the length of the course? Also how much running is there?

1 km run
1 km ski erg
1 km run
50 m sled push ( 152 kgs)
1 km run
50 m sled pull ( 100 kgs)
1 km run
80 m bbjs this is a burpee chest to the floor followed by a two footed jump … repeat
1 km run
1 km row
1 km run
200 m farmers walk ( 24 kg kettle bell in each hand )
1 km run
100 m walking lunges knee to the floor ( 20 kilo sand bag carried)
1 km run
100 wall balls ( full squat down past 90’ ) then Chuck a 6 kg ball at at 2.7 m target
These are just horrible
Jog 10? Ms across the line

Some very very fast runners doing some very steady times as some of the stations especially sleds just destroy your quads, your at complete failure 5-6 times in 3 - 4 mins then run immediately after 50 ms completed.
Compromised running is very real, think of the worst overbike you ever did and your nearly there.

Cheers for the comments and hearts folks
