Report for Beat The Tide 4km in the Dyfi X Aquathlon thread.
Forking heck!!!
That’s nuts
But takes about 1/3 of the time.
Aye - and don’t have to get out of the vehicle. Despite the extra cost it’s the easiest way to cross the Channel with a dog on board.
Will be on it Wednesday morning
The tunnel was a lot cheaper when I came back from France in July? Even with the extra driving.
Before Covid, Le Shuttle (as they trade as these days) used to offer a frequent traveller scheme - buy minimum 10 crossings (5 x returns) valid for 1 year at a much reduced cost. These crossings could be shared with one other person so reduced the costs further if plans were not to cross 5x.
The last time me and a friend bought this, it was £48 per crossing - £96 return!! Extra costs if at certain crossing times.
Sadly frequent traveller scheme died as a result of covid and not been brought back yet.
Current return crossing is £357!! But that’s for a 6m campervan plus dog which is an expensive(ish) extra
Was going to say, it was around £240 return for our car at the end of July
I think the price of the Chunnel will be insignificant if they manage to bring back your friend ![]()
He can stay over there….![]()
That price is if you’re organised and book well in advance. Book within a few months of travel and you’re looking at 4 times that amount. That Newcastle Amsterdam crossing can be eye wateringly expensive.
Good luck ![]()
don’t forget to take a bike.
Good luck … Weymouth??
Says Erkner (Berlin) on the swim cap.
Edit: all them gels for a 70.3 ![]()

A bike??? ![]()
Erkner just outside of Berlin
I’m at Weymouth…
No kids or responsibilities, sun shining and transition doesn’t close until 5. Think I’m going off for a little pootle on the bike
They gave out a sachet of PH 1500 and Maurten 320 mix in the backpacks. Had I known that I could have saved myself a few quid on nutrition!
Good luck number 1!
Good luck ![]()
