Some cracking results there

Was a stunning morning down here so conditions would’ve been great. Sea was like a lake at 0700. Wind probably started to build after 10 so they’d have been coming to the end of the bike and it would’ve been quite welcome on the prom run.
Great results.
Yeah, some great times and performances, bit painful for Adam to miss out by 15 seconds. Kennedy-Burn still crushing it in M50 and 6th overall. A lad I know managed 4:49 despite getting knocked off his back a week ago.
Nice time by Sparky as well.
14 bloody seconds, farking hell!!
I couldn’t have done anything about it. I actually had my watch on the watch face knowing I had to finish before 12:15 to squeak under and knew it would be close getting to the line. I completely crapped all over someone’s finish line too. Hope it wasn’t their first iM. They were giving all the beans waving arms etc while I just steamed down trying to under 5.
Despite the 14 seconds I had a grand day out. I’ve seen until half way through the run I was sitting in 7th AG but bloody hell the wheels well and truly fell off, just couldn’t get my legs moving any faster and the wind for half the run course was nasty too. Bloody club mate pipped me in the final km and bumped me to 11th too. He’s off my Christmas card list!
Swim was alright, conditions were millpond. started right at the front with Dr Mantle and didn’t get swum over too badly - had a pretty calm and relaxed swim tbh. Just over 32 mins, I’ll take that.
Bike was fine too, some serious cheating bastards out there though the blatant drafting was awful but did my best to have my own ride and got around in 2:37 which again I’ll take on that course. Riding in the fog early doors was bloody cold though.
The run yeah, when you’ve prepped badly or you’re not fit the run shows you up every time. I was ok for about 7 or 8 km but then I was very quickly not. @gingerbongo commented that my pace graph is a sight to behold. It’s a ski slope!
10th AG swim, 10th AG bike, 23rd AG run says it all!
Going to go to the awards but I don’t expect to get a roll down to 11th, a couple of clubmates should get spots though and obvs chickenboy will be on the top step of the super vets!
Loved it though, tough course!
How did your mate get on GB?
Oh and it wasn’t waves just rolling self seeded
Well done mate, huge effort and glad to hear you are looking at it positively.
Nice racing, so annoying to get that close to 5 hours ![]()
I think the guy who won rides for Grouparma FDJ, rode a 2:10 bike split ![]()
Oi, less of the supervets please and maybe call us more experienced ![]()

Thanks for the kind messages. Very happy with 5:10. I’m now motivated for project sub5 which hopefully will be at either of the Cotswold races next year. Will post a proper report when back from Berlin
Do we have anyone competing at Tenby this weekend?
That will be a negative.
Bunch of shirkers.
What’s the forecast there? It isn’t great here, I’m volunteering at Winchester HM.
It looks shit but warm
Bit like Mrs FT’s review of my vegetable lasagne last night
Look at that as a closing 55km to our races in a couple of weeks!
They’ve opened up a new section of coast path this year which adds a bit more up and down. These races really do come with a big sting in the tail!
Yeah, because that’s what that race needs, more up and down

I’ve done the 55 once (when it was called 50 and was actually 56!). It’s bloody tough. That’s why when you get to Combe Martin after going all night, you think ’ ooh it’s daylight and I’ve done the hard bit’
Yeah nah!

Oof - that’s spikey
You guys going with cheat sticks?
Yep, this is one race where I would not be without, especially for Hangman’s and Bossington. Plenty of opportunity to put them away when not needed. I’d say generally, you could get away with them to CM but I take them all the way as I never know how my back will be.
This is assuming I make it past CM cut off ![]()
