2024 Races

I need to start to confirm my races for next year and enter some before they fill up or get expensive and I think with the Flex90 there’s some transfer options? No plans to do a full Ironman, the last 4 haven’t been enjoyable in the slightest and I seem to go through some mental crisis the weeks before

Current plans are something like,

Jan - Hardmoors 15 (confirmed)
Mar - Hardmoors 55 (confirmed but having second thoughts!)
May - UT Snowdonia (confirmed and would like the stones to get into the OCC ballot)

July - ADH Duathlon and Long, there’s a rest day between them
September - Duisburg 70.3 & Belgium 70.3 - They’re supposed to be consecutive weekends subject to Belgium being confirmed and very driveable

Would also do a couple of local triathlons if possible and some fell\trail races depending on how the body is.

I do fancy a longer trip but will probably skip that next year after quite a bit of travelling to races this year.

Edit: too late for Tokyo unless they do some kind of ballot for 5 star people.

The 100km or 100m?

I’m sort of thinking of the 100km, but get sore hips at 25km :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:.

I thought UTS was a 50km or 100km. Hadn’t heard of a 100m option?

As FP says I don’t think there’s a 100M, I’m just doing the 55K but looking at this years times it’s still likely to be 9 hours! I wished I’d checked before entering :joy:

Am I looking at a different set of races?

No you’re not, I just checked the site as well. The 100m has been added for next year, bloody hell that won’t tickle!

I’ve missed the boat for Lakeland 50 next year. Hadn’t realised how quickly the charity spots would sell out. (I was just going to pay the charity bit myself).

So apart from getting schooled by @Sparky at UK Backyard (which I haven’t entered yet either :man_facepalming: ) I don’t really have anything for mid year.

Yes, that’s them and I’m not sure I’d noticed the 100 miler! And absolutely no chance I’d do that, 100 mile TT on the bike is bad enough!

Have you entered the 20K? It’s only a short commute for you, swim in the Dee, cycle there, run, and cycle home for the C\D

Ooh - might give the 25km one a go with Mrs T - it’s a week after Thames Path 100 but trying to get some stones (can’t believe I have fallen for this stones lark) so Mrs T and I can do OCC 2025.

Really enjoyed Hardmoors 55 a few years ago - even with the sting in the tail of Roseberry Topping - was the year before the snowstorm.

It’s started at Guisborough the last few years so Rosey is very early now.

Fairly sure it’s that direction again next year.

That was only ever heading in one (bad) direction when they announced the stones. What I can’t make out is if all the UTMB races now need stones, where do you start if you don’t have any at all?

Are there any left you can just enter?

Just looked at ballot for berlin marathon 205 euros FFS ouchhhhhh

My understanding is that you can enter any of their qualifying races without stones, they’re only required if you want to get into the ’grand final’ at Chamonix?

I’ve got no stones, oooer matron :joy:, and entered Wales.

Crikey, that’s jumped, fairly sure I only paid 163 euros, although that might have been GBP

So I could (in theory) just enter UTS 50?

Haha, I think so but I’d check the course first!

Or you could be like me, what’s the worst that could happen :joy:

I’ll do my usual thing of entering and then looking at the profile ‘some time afterwards’

Yeah, live life dangerously :joy:

Kids and a mortgage was dangerous enough but I’ve got rid of one those now. (not always 100% sure I picked the right one :joy: ).

You can do the ETC which is only 15km (still took me 3 hours) like I did this year - and then just enjoy the rest of the week taking in the other races with no pressure
