No not done the Emilia Romagna Draft fest
My memory of Hamburg is pretty similar to @jeffb - OK swim, truely awful bike course, lovely run
Bike course was flat, industrial, windy. The only character was the millions of rail track crossings that took out many cyclists and the cobble section designed to eject all water bottles / tools / Garmins
To make matters even worse, the bike course was 186km - seems really stupid as the turn around was a u turn in the road
To be fair, I think that the course may have been updated since 2019
My nemesis’s of 2024 are not aging up next year so I can at least enter knowing that there is a chance I can do well in my AG. So I will be prioritising the sub 17min thread over winter….
Super Vet status?
Finally navigated the crappy insurance form for Arc and have pulled out.
Barca priority email has arrived
Going to see how much later compared to Italy.
I’ve rinsed the credit card and went for Barcelona! At these costs it really isn’t compatible with retirement so better make the most of it
Waiting for Barcelona general entry to open at 13:00 today
Did you enter?
Yep.
Sold my soul and my last kidney
Very tempted by this to help keep me honest through winter.
3,000m lake swim
100km/1600m bike
20km/350m mixed surface run
Bargain price of €90.
If I can get it past by my chief coach/soigneur I may follow it up with a swimrun the following weekend, but that may be a bit of a stretch.
Guys, I’ve done something silly and I need you to tell me it’s going to be ok. I’ll be 40 next November - this feels like the appropriate geriatric millennial stereotype way to round off the mid-life crisis.
It’s going to be OK.
You’ve got ten months. It’s ok
40, still a bairn
Good luck and get a plan.
I had some of my best races in my early 40’s you will be fine.
christ almighty - I didn’t start in this sport until I was 50!

I was looking at Tallin for next year but the 70.3 not the full.
