2025 Races

Apparently the 2025 70.3 venue will be announced on Wednesday, sounds like Marbella is a strong favourite, might be a nice place but don’t think it’s a destination for me.

They did announce 3 shortlisted cities ages ago but all I can find is possibly Tallinn and maybe back to StG

As expected, I’m sure Marbella is a nice place but it’s late in the European season, wonder if this is the long term schedule for the 70.3 due to split full distance WC

Andalusian Sunshine :handshake: 2025 VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship

We’re excited to announce Marbella as the first-ever Spanish host of the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. :trophy: Thanks to its ideal climate and Mediterranean views, the city is a spectacular venue for athletes and supporters alike.

Feck sake that’s not a term time friendly date now is it.

Grr, had my eye on that, not fussed now with the faff that November will create for me.

Hadn’t even considered that but fair point, I’m guessing not half term?

I think I want my last ever IM event to be the WC in Nice in 2025. Thinking about Barcelona or Cascais as a Qualifying event. I guess Wales would be sensible choice, given that the course suits me, but been there and done that. Barcelona may be an option to leverage my TCR fitness for a final sub 9 attempt

The Italian race is rapid as well.

The Italian race is also an option and really easy for me to get to by car or train. 21 September is 7 weeks after I finish TCR which should be enough to recover

Isn’t the worry at those two races that you’ll face a challenge from the ubiquitous and shameless drafters?

Erm, how to put this nicely

The reason he’s got his nickname is from starting a bit further back on the bike :joy:

So most people coming out of the swim at point aren’t likely to be rapid enough to hang on!
