2025 Races

I will be back over there for work in April. Hoping to check out IM CPH run course. My boss reckons I might be over there a few time this year.

MrsB and I are in as well. No offence, we’ll make our own travel plans

They’ve announced the date for Pontevedra worlds, 20-29 June. Shame as I was really hoping for something later and I’d have gone, but I’ll have 2 weeks off training at the start of May so less sure on it.

Paging @leahnp overall winner :trophy: at the duathlon today :+1:

Doon also in on the duathlon action, splits looked competitive running in the Irish Sea

I’ll be there for the standard distance duathlon.

Thanks @jeffb, another beach run :sob::sob: but had to wait patiently for the bike and put the hammer down. Managed to put 5 mins into the fastest runner over the 46km bike course so I could relax for the last 5km run.

Yeah, cheers @jeffb 2nd V55 in the Welsh Duathlon Champs today.

Bit disappointed, I was first V50 last year on the same course. My transitions were snappier, everyone’s bike was slower due to the conditions but my running let me down. I’ve tried blaming an ankle injury that took some time to clear & a pulled muscle in my arse, but further introspection tells me I need to get out in the hills again. I’ve been a lazy boy.

Had a lovely weekend away with the wifey though.

ETA, this was a 2024 race, we may be on the wrong thread .

While the London marathon was on earlier I said I fancied doing one next year but wanted an autumn one because of IM in August. She said I should do one abroad, result!

Damn You pookey! I’ve been looking at the 50k trail race from California from the weekend :grimacing: and it’s not far from there to Saint George where the 70.3 is around a week later :joy:

Could be a backup option if I don’t get into Tokyo but I’d need to enter it soon, it does look like you can defer a year though :joy:

Anyone done Challenge St Polten? Keith is doing it again this weekend and it was always on my todo list. It’s also a week after the Challenge championship which is barely 100k away.

Seems to have done well since they took it off Ironman.

Could be weather affected though?

@Matthew_Spooner has done it and I believe spoke well of it

Thinking to next year I think I’m going to go all in for Roth. It’s been on the list a long time and definitely a race where I could potentially finish in a decent time.

I did St Polten the year after Jorgen did it. That year the swim was cancelled due to the air temp. Great bike and run course, I would go back if I was to do another 70.3

You got an entry?

Or, are you going into the draw?

Bloody 800 mile drive innit!!!
A nice 13 hour journey

Honestly think I’d find that harder than the event (assuming fit and properly trained). A part of me dies just thinking of spending that long in a car.

I think (?) maybe @AndyS drove to a foreign race once upon a time? Maybe so did @funkster ?

But yeah, it’s a long ass way!!!
The miles would cruise by in a Land Cruiser like :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Fairly sure Funkster used to drive to Frankfurt, but that’s not too bad for him via the tunnel.

I’ve driven to Mt Ventoux over a couple of days and came back via ADH, the journey back was somewhat challenging when my car broke down and came back on a transporter about 3 weeks later :joy:

Also driven to Frankfurt a couple of times, Roth and a few others.

Wasn’t a huge problem, generally got the ferry from Hull. Put my music on and drove! I hate stop start driving but if I can put cruise control on then I don’t mind it too much.

The trip Cali to StG was brilliant in places.
