Absolutely bossing those kids there
Well done and top sandbagging! For someone with a gammy hip to run that quick it obviously is healing
Maybe a waxing strip to get rid of the residual marshmallows
This is the highlight of my day so far!
A 2:10 Olympic ?!?
And your proper old too!?!
With a knackered hip/ leg/ brain?!
I’m not sure wether to say fantastic or FRO?!
What a result.
( you been in that meds cabinet again fruity ? )
Like others this has started my day really well
Brilliant
Well done Fruity, result!
haha thanks & no promise you I have not been in the meds cabinet. Don’t care enough to do that, it’s just a bit of fun and fitness.
The hip has really improved massively over the last month, I’m not sure why & don’t want to tempt fate. Could still feel it on the bike, hunched over when flexing the hip- but run was ok touch wood.
Definitely need a new bike though and a new fit for a "more mature gentleman’ - the front end of the P2 is too low for my neck these days & think I’m probably losing power because of it. Zwift put FTP at 250W back over Christmas, so 205W for an hour is a bit sad and the winner put 7 minutes on me on the bike.
Top bombing fruity - 3rd overall and an AG win?
Ok, pictures don’t lie. You’ve clearly entered the under 10s race, but what’s worse you’ve taken one of their prizes!!! Have you no shame
EDIT: excellent racing
Brilliant, well dome Fruity. That kid behind you has his sunnies game dialled in.
Yes fruity you sandy mo fo! Love this!
Well done Fruity
A fella at swimming pointed this out to me yesterday.
18mile/1000mtrs off-road run before hopping on to join 62mile/2000mtrs of the closed roads Bà Sportive which goes up Bealach na Bà .
I’m looking at you @GeordieM
Interesting… I’ve done the Bealach Mor sportive a couple of times in horrible weather, and I’ve been over the Bealach a few times on my lonesome, the last time in April where I narrowly made it over in a blizzard. In fact I’ve never been to Applecross and not been soaked and cold.
But the duathlon… that is a seriously hard core du. Tempting, very tempting.
My schedule for the year is still getting finalised and some changes
I’m going to do the Brass Monkey half next weekend but need to try to pace it and avoid setting myself back, I ran today and the leg has been alright but I know I’ll get dragged along and don’t fancy a cold hobble back.
I’ve just entered a trail race in Harrogate in about 4 weeks, 32k, did it a couple of years ago but this is anti-clockwise and a couple of minor changes, should be able to pace that a bit better.
Will see how they go before entering the Boro half in March.
Trying to change the trail race distance in April to avoid wrecking my season but not had any feedback yet. And hovering over entering the Cotswold Classic (July race).
Still waiting to see when Ironman announce the 2026 70.3 WC location, there’s some idol chat on slowtwitch and hopefully they’ll announce it soon so I can see about trying to qualify at a race later this year. A friend has told me she’s entered IM Cascais and I’m increasingly tempted to bump Barcelona and do something like that (the 70.3 version).
So, still a lot of ifs and buts! I’d have liked to have done Elsinore 70.3 the week after the bridge half but the flights don’t really work or holidays from work.
Still aiming for sub-5 somewhere though!
Did anyone do the Berkeley Marathon 2024?
A UK version on the Barkley Marathon. You need to run a four-hour, 48-minute marathon each time x5?
The Berkeley Marathons - Run Ultra. ← September 2025
The Spine race started yesterday remindered my of it.
That sounds pretty tough tbh
Wonder what the course elevation is like
I don’t think it says in the article.
"Due to the location of the Berkeley Marathons UK being in the Cotswold’s, it doesn’t have the same level of elevation as the race in Tennessee. Therefore Breen and his team had to try and combat this: reducing the cut-off time of the 130-mile race to 24 hours.
The route consists of five laps of a marathon-length loop. to complete it, you need to run a four-hour, 48-minute marathon each time."
Mark Threlfall from GTN had an attempt at it for a GTN video.
I’m toying with the idea of entering a little local SkiMo race! There’s a 1,000m elevation version, and a 500m version. I’d do the latter, and almost certainly come last. €10 to enter, and you get dinner afterwards!
Liked that film - had a look at the website - about 3000 feet per lap.
Think I might manage 3 laps max (if I could be bothered to head out for no 3 after getting back to the main CP) but anything over that is beyond me
Sounds like fun! Just embrace your inner Killian!!
BTW - don’t the French still call them Raids??
