2025 Races

Lordy

This has escalated rather quickly. I was just thinking out loud…

Probably don’t need it if you do the 75k version but that’s barely a parkrun in comparison :joy:

On here that leads to madness… :joy:

I genuinely would like to do it as a bucket list thing if the body allows (not sure how likely that is) but think I need a bit (lot) more of a run-up, maybe 2027 is more realistic here. You guys can go do it in 2026 and post the low-down perhaps

I expect the run-down will be harder as always.

Feel like that cheeky little up-down combo at 95km is likely to sting

Looks like about 600m up - a slow hike for sure at that stage

Nah, perfect time to launch your attack, get a good gap on the uphill then you can descend to the finish while the chase behind can’t organise their chasers. The run in does look a bit long and flat to hold them off, but it’s the best chance to hold off the sprinters, tbh though, you’d still think it’s one for Van Aert or Mathews or similar, a sprinter who can get over the hills. Especially for a short stage like this.

Haha yes it does look a bit like the profile of a mountain stage in one of the Grand Tours.

Not sure bikes are allowed on this one though.

He’s a bit of a drama queen but gives you an idea of the course

In my view there are two lines on a graph at this point:

  • time to spend preparing
  • An ageing body undergoing a gradual slowing down

I intend to get as much as I can in before the second does for me

13 months is plenty of time to prepare for an athlete of your calibre - stop procrastinating and crack on with it

You can search for 100Km category races here - some of the 70km or so races meet this category as well UTMB World Series Events

In a few weeks I’ll be just moving out of it, and not in the Benjamin Button way.

Does it have to be a UTMB race ? Since I’m back to zero

No doesn’t have to be a UTMB race - eg gb’s mates NC110 is still ranked

Try this link UTMB Index races

Why have I found myself on the UMTB site again?

It seems to happen once or twice a year then I forget about it.

This has made me think that you could also do a few shorter races to raise the UTMB index .

The local races I’ve done with Punk Panther seem to have boosted my score but the recent one says pending. Most seem to have aged out though, not that I’m looking for anything in the 100k distance anytime soon.
