Thanks mate, likewise. I could be free for pacing duties in coming years

That’s good to hear, they’ve taken on the Swindon Half Marathon this year.

The last half marathon here got cancelled and a lot of people were left out of pocket, so many are a bit sceptical about it.

@tunster @FatPom we should do a multi day race abroad, I have only done one and it was civilised as we had showers/bags every day - but it certainly felt more manageable.

I swore after Namibia that I was getting too old for 5 days of running with 10kg on my back and sleeping on a rocky floor

See piranhas crocs and snakes for other requirements

You ultrarunners are all as mad as a box of frogs, except… the Tenerife Blue Trail holds a weird and inexplicable attraction to me. If anyone’s ever thinking of doing it let me know, I’ll need about 7 years notice please

Starts on the beach on the south of the Island at midnight, run up and over the highest peak in Spain while the sun rises, down to a beach on the north of the island before midnight the next day. Something like that. Looks incredible. But knee breakingly hard I guess.

I know you’re used to a lot of sand out there in the desert. But time to put it away now. You’ll be absolutely fine Fruity!

Unless I get into WS100 ( not likely ) I’ll definitely enter the 2026 addition and definitely a bonus if its included in the wser qualifiers again.

Subject to domestic approval, I’m in for 26

In the unlikely event of being in Western States this is long enough out to be a good focus for through the winter training and not affect the main event

So - entries go on sale in October.

It looks as if to enter you need form, right?

  • "To register to the Tenerife Bluetrail 110k, runners need to prove their experience in
running long distance trail running race. They will be asked to have a UTMB®
performance index in the 100K or 100M categories. "

  • "However, it is important to be aware of the demands of the terrain and that these are semiself-sufficient races. Tenerife Bluetrail 110k is not an event to start in trail running races.
For this reason, the organization recommends having a UTMB® Index, which is a minimum
performance level, of 410 in the race category 100M to be carried out since it is the value
with which the cut-off hours have been fixed. With a UTMB® Index below that figure, it is
very likely that the runner will not be able to overcome the cut-off barriers by not complying
with the established times. It is advisable not to enrol in Tenerife Bluetrail 110k with a
UTMB® Index less than 410. The organization is very demanding in the fulfilment of the
maximum hourly barriers of passage. "

I don’t know what any of that really means except that it’s probably the stuff of madness?
