Indeed. they have beer at the aid stations, according to Craig!
You have to sample some. A pint of Butcombe is the best
Might help with my navigation skills
Despite the shambles that was Greece 70.3 last year including the abandon transition carpet etc. that was just discarded and probably still there they’ve managed to arrange another race this year in a completely different location. It’s in Costa Navarino which I’m fairly sure has had a race previously?
Looks like a nice resort but not sure how easy it will be to get to, it’s a long drive from Athens unless there’s a regional airport for holiday flights. Either way I won’t be going.
That last sentance was the biggest surprise of all
You might not be going, but given your past travel travails your bags might end up there
Entered ‘Big Way Round’ 50km on 05/05. I think that will be my last event before SDW100 on 14/6
Well that was interesting !
Oulton park long one
10.6 k
60.5 k
8.7 k
Ish
My first “ endurance “ event for half a decade
The rowathon was won by a 64 year old in a field of 4 and I passed him still in his Ron hill run shorts on the bike like he was standing still ( and I’m a crappy cyclist now) really nice fella actually
A very steady first run
“ what I expected “ bike
Beautiful tarmac but crazy wind conditions ?!
Last run was plain weird
The easiest lap of 18! Was the first lap of the second run and even though way out of my comfort zone after 3-4 years of sprint tris and hyrox I was really building up to a “ warm ish “ finish
However .. cramp !!
Or so I
thought my calf went with 3-4 k to go but not bad enough to stop forward motion
It actually eased towards the end
Finished !!
Mid table results wise
4:30 kms bang on
33.4 kph bike
Enjoyed it hope I can walk in the morning ( calf)
Onwards
Great result @Mungo2
How about you?
A trip down to the Northumberland duathlon this morning. The race is a qualifier for the 2026 World duathlon champs so the field was stacked for an early season race. 3°for the first run, which meant by the end of the 10km we were toasty but then humming and ahhing about what to wear on the bike. The bike is a TT dream basically up and down the A1068 for 40km and turn at the roundabouts. The run was just about hanging on for 5km.
Really pleased with the result 1st in 50 AG as I beat the guy who took the sprint title 2 weeks ago and posted the 4th fastest bike split (1-3 were snr cat) and 8th overall.
Working on my TT position paid off with a CDA of 0.194 and NP of 232w compared to the others posting 260-300w.
I’m guessing a touch faster ( than me !)
Sadly forgot about the montain outlet
Impressive but not unexpected
Well done
I did notice a 50-59 year old won the sprint distance at Oulton ( non drafting I think ) in a very impressive
50 min ish time unless I read it wrong ?!
Had a Quick Look, it could be super sprint as that is uber fast.
Good going @mungo
cheers FP
From tri talks most prolific ultra runner!
That’s appreciated !
Well done, and Mungo.
Fairly sure I did that bike course when there was a triathlon with the swim in the lake quite a few years ago, Ali B smashed it! I saw the overall results on the NE page and I think the top 3 regularly hit the podiums and are obviously a bit younger.
It was chilly by the coast today, bike leg must have been freezing.
I took the gloves off in T1🤦♂️ fortunately having Di2 I could still press the buttons
4am alarm for what is probably my last tri in the ME, a 375m/ 10km/ 2.5km supersprint at a place called 974 beach. Final race in the national series.
Anyone up? Toby having a night cap? @APM hitting the gym for an early morning sess?
It’s dark and 27C right now, predicted 36C by 9am but hopefully things will be done and dusted by then. Sea is 24C & the TT consensus was no wetsuit.
Junior #2 is out visiting & he’s doing it too.
Report to follow…
