Good luck Fruity!

No 5am gym for me. Got back late-ish from working away, needed extra sleep!

Well that was over in the blink of an eye.

5m55, 15m40 and 11m20.

Happy with swim and bike but run felt grim, not sure why. Old legs I guess, plus it was getting hot.

Still, 1st geriatric again. No envelopes though.

#2 enjoyed himself & we have entered another race together in UK in August :+1:

PS- not a single person wore a wetsuit.

edit #3: old man podium, they kindly moved the stairlift out of sight for the photo

Haha no flat as a witches pancake.

Other peoples’ Strava putting the run at 2.8km so maybe not as bad as it could have been. My running has really suffered this year unfortunately, haven’t been able to do very much after hurting my hip.

Still haven’t quite figured out multisport mode on new Garmin either, managed to record today as an 11km swim which clearly isn’t even at all right.

Bugger, I’ve just noticed one of my favourite fell races is this weekend at Guisborough. I was convinced it was while I’m away

As mentioned I’ve got a trail race tomorrow near Ripon. It’s 37K and although loosely near the dales the elevation seems to be somewhere between 4-700M and I gather bone dry. Someone ran a bit today and it was very warm but heat radiating from bits of the road and might even be doable in road shoes.

The plan was one last decent workout before the race in 2 weeks and wearing the Fujispeed’s and probably that cheap Aldi backpack that I’m going to take away. The heat is a bit of a bonus in that it’s similar to Auburn so would be a useful workout.

But, the knee has been a bit sore, it’s more like a nipping on the medial area and I’ve been working on the muscles around it but still a bit nervous.

One bonus is that there’s a half version of the race and the start times are the same and same route until 14K, so if I get that far and it’s tight I’ll bail and accept the likely DNF. If it isn’t right in the first few K I’ll probably just turn back as 2-4 hours isn’t going to fix it. But I’ve had it before and not had a problem

Plan C is to sack it off, go out on my bike and do the fell race or a run on Sunday :joy:

I’m not going to get any fitter at this stage but was looking forward to it.

Thanks but in the end a DNS :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: had a poor sleep not helped by the neighbours making a noise at 4am, but the leg was just tight and I’ve spent a lot of money and training time for the race in a fortnight and wouldn’t recover in 2 weeks if I really aggravated it.

Tried the local parkrun instead with a 4k warmup and fairly sure I’ve made the right decision. It’s tightened up so I’ll need to get back on the roller etc, and trying to get in for a massage on Wednesday. Quad is tight but think it’s probably more the hip and glute.

On the plus side the parkrun wasn’t bad and the ASICS felt good, without completely battering myself I wasn’t far off my course PB
