2025 Races

Not in
Not surprised

Apparently I did enter and guess what…

NOT THIS TIME

We’re sorry Ian!

We’re sorry you didn’t get a 2025 TCS London Marathon place via the ballot, which was drawn at random. However, all is not lost – there are still plenty of ways to take on a marathon next April.

What are my options?

Is going to the pub an option?

Hmm, Elsinore 70.3 the week after the bridge half  Not sure I’ll be able to persuade the GF to stay for a week or so though, not to mention the holidays at work.

Might drop some hints though :joy:

There are lots of events out there & I’ve got a bit of a rule about not doing the same one twice.

But.

I really enjoyed that series of races I did in the Ardeche a couple of weeks ago…apart from the sprint one & my twatting goggles snapping on middle swim.

Today I gently started the hint dropping about a return to my wife, although I will look for alternatives as & when they start getting promoted.

I’m a bit like this myself although when I was away recently I was thinking about how I seem to be a bit of a kiss of death for branded 70.3 events :joy: was going through the ones I’ve done and I think at least half no longer exist, and a few of the full distances as well.

I’ll exclude local\UK races that I like or when I can do them like our standard\70.3 and Helvellyn when I MTFU for the swim! And London marathon, it’s the best race I’ve done.

I think with Denmark it was partly a fond memory from having a decent race and being there that week. I’ve been considering a return to ADH as well.

I might go for this. I’ve accepted my goal of doing a full before I turn 40 (next November) isn’t going to happen for various reasons and going overseas to do a half feels a bit OTT. Would mean I’ve done an IM Brand and can maybe make the full the goal for 50 instead

Doing a 1/2 overseas ain,t to bad @ least u get to have beer and chill after the race if u so wish .rather than being curled up in fetal postion in a dark room after a full

Swim and run are same / similar to full from what I can see
The bike looks quite a bit faster but not fast fast if you get my drift.

Currently pondering my life choices

Not that I’ve done many halves at all, but I like the idea of them as you don’t miss any meals. Early breakfast and with a bit of luck you’re finished in time for lunch. Perfect. :pig:

Agree my heart would have the same thought on wanting to do a full to be worth the travel, but the head says a half makes way more sense to be able to actually enjoy the evening/days afterwards. Especially if travelling to a city or place with any hiking after

But a full for you is like a half for most of the rest of us 🕵🏻‍♂️

For some reason I’ve entered the Endure24 solo :running_man:

Done a couple of overseas halves - got to be part of a holiday I’d say, certainly make it feel worth while.

Unless you’re off to the desert for a smash and grab WC spot
