2025 Races

I saw Harry Palmer pre race then the front of the men’s race as they came past to start their second lap, he wasn’t in the lead then though.

Approaching T2 and he’s smashing with the lead bike.

I saw that he was having a bike fit at Pearson Cycles “in preparation for his Ironman” a couple of weeks ago.

He was being fitted on an S-Works Tarmac, so I assumed it was for a road bike course :man_shrugging:

Walked it home with a 2:30 run I think :grimacing:

Fair play to him.

What was the deal with his crash?

you try running kwikker than 1h35 when your 56
2nd fastest run split in my AG. tbf I was hoping for 1h30 like at Weymouth and Outlaw Half recently, as the heat didnt bother me. tougher bike course tho, its like a mini-IM Wales. loved it, some lairy and technical fast sweeping corners. WCPGW

A few of us are entered into the Steelman (70.3) tomorrow but the weather is looking terrible with possible lightning then flooding and heavy rain during the afternoon :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: I’m not having much luck with triathlons this year but last week wasn’t too bad with the early start.

Could be lightning in the morning and the heavy rain looks set for halfway through the bike as it starts at 10am.

I’ve got my stuff ready and will see how it looks in the morning or on the way but not risking the roads if there’s flooding and poor visibility and I know they’ll be checking for the safety of people.

We’ve had a heavy shower here about an hour ago with almost immediate flooding due to the dryness and all the stormdrains being blocked.

Sounds like one extreme or the other.

I’ve bailed.

Messed the swim start again  and was at the back in lots of traffic so paused a few times to let people go, then made my way through the slower traffic.

Actually got out in 34:40’ish although it was about 100m short so not a bad swim.

It was drizzling on the bike and I wasn’t putting much effort in, got to Northallerton which is about 13k and it started getting heavy and dangerous with spray so decided to head back. A couple of others have withdrawn after the first lap.

It’s quite heavy now, if it held off until the end of the bike I’d have probably done the run but wasn’t doing another 2+ hours on roads with those conditions.

Had some weather extremes this year!

That really is quite a contrast to last week. Sounds like a good decision to take an early shower if it was that grim :+1:. Proper triathlon weather = :sun::beach_with_umbrella:

@gingerbongo Are you doing that Lone Wolf Last man standing event? A friend is doing it and I said I may crew for him.

Nope, not doing that one. Don’t really have anything in play this year to be honest.

Oddly, even though it’s local, don’t actually know anybody that’s done one of their events. Be good to hear what you think.

Change of name for Justin’s race coming?

Paging @leahnp have you seen this? Just down the road but distances are fairly short, 5k/19k/3k

They use to hold it in March but a good spot👍 they held one around the airfield and a previous one around the nature reserve.
