At least he acknowledged your existence ?
Is he German ?
Good luck @Paul have a great race, always good to feel well prepared
Prepare for the worst and hope for the best, I say
Good luck @Paul
Doubt he could eat one of them for a week after that lot
Copenhagen and Kalmar this weekend, I’ve got a mate doing Kalmar as his first IM, looks nice from Nikki’s photo’s but I gather accommodation is a big challenge unless you are nearby or have very deep pockets!
Copenhagen though, Pacha, Paul, chickenboy is there, anyone else?
Obvs, good luck and I’ll get the tracker on.
I think Kalmar won the athlete choice awards overall last year? Is meant to be one of the best races I thought
Yes, seems to get very good reviews and a fast course but I know a few mates who entered or were going to and transferred when they were struggling for somewhere to stay.
Edit: the lad I know’s brother lives there or nearby so less of a problem for him.
Go @Paul at least you won’t be hungry
Edit: in fairness this is exactly what I would do
Haha thanks! I am not ashamed of my little bags of treats
I was told early on that a common big mistake 14-16hour plodders make is to still approach fuelling like a sub-10er would (encouraged by all the articles that are written by/for people in the upper Age Grouper pace I suppose) and just extrapolate it up, so say just taking 6 more gels for 2 more hours on the bike and thinking that’ll do.
Good luck to anyone going round Kalmar/Copenhagen (or both?!?!) this weekend. I’m in for Tallinn, so another week to go. Just being prepared because I’m now anxious as hell.
You do you @Paul
On my first IM I’d previously heard of someone having to retire on the bike because of a split tyre, so - & I shit you not - carried a spare tire because that was one less thing that was going to stop me.
All the best
Don’t give me ideas!!
Apologies, I thought you were doing Copenhagen, far too organised for a race that’s at least another week?
Do you have a second home in Copenhagen?
I think @Paul is more organised than me. I’ve just got kit strewn everywhere in the back of the van at the moment
That’d be nice!
Anyone want to share their race numbers?
Nice to do a bit of tracking and be shamed into some training (doing 100th of a IM in support, sod doing 380m ish swim though)
I am 1816 tomorrow at IM CPH
Mrs A said yesterday, “Shall we have a quick look around the shops?”. F*ck me, I walked far more than I should have. My legs feel battered. She wasn’t happy when I said I won’t go to see the Little Mermaid in the evening (they did). They’re going to.do.stuff today without me. I will take my bike and bags in shortly and have a short swim. Then it will be back to apartment and sleep.
No aspirations for time tomorrow, just get around without a drama and enjoy it.
Good luck tomorrow @pacha, have a good one
