2025 Races

Not much different to some of the advice that one of the forum’s medics has been given when injured which has been suitably ignored.

Typical Y chromosome behaviour :see_no_evil_monkey:

Guilty as charged if you mean moi & the right calf strain thing. Did stay off for it 2 weeks the second time it went though, as per @APM ‘s instructions (he might have suggested longer…) & had a very lazy October.

It feels 99% better now happily. Just the slightest twinge sometimes when running.

Know I should be stretching and doing strength work, but predictably am doing no such thing :see_no_evil_monkey:

The irony is not lost on me.

  1. The fact that I’m telling a Doctor how to manage an injury.

  2. I would also ignore my own advice, and frankly have done several times leading to further calf trouble. Hypocrite.

Welsh Inter-Regions XC Champs yesterday at Newtown which is a whole afternoon affair of N,S,W & E Wales pitting all AGs against each other.

It’s been about 20yrs since I last repped North Wales - up The Wrekin at the Inter-County Fell Champs - & I was chuffed to find my vest & still fit in it.

Always a bit nervous being selected for a team because if you’re not going to place in the top 3 you absolutely want to justify your selection by being a counter in the team. We had a team of 6 and it was 5 to count, I only knew one of my North Walian teammates & had no chance of distinguishing any of the others as my race had everything from 20yr olds to 64yr olds.

I ran ok - set a new HR threshold :joy: -finished 116th overall, 6/33 in AG & was 3rd counter to help my team of oldies take :2nd_place_medal:

Did 3:46:08 at Florence marathon today. Fine with the time although I probably could have paced it better but it happens. Plenty of great sights on the route. Training was greatly affected by work so the frequency of regular runs wasn’t there. Legs are sore AF now.

Had a quick shifty at the results & under prepared or not you seem to have ran a solidly paced race. Good man :flexed_biceps:

Florence isn’t that big. Guess you hit some hills at some point?

The only but of proper climbing, if you can call it that is a bridge. They do a good job of taking you past all main sights.

Thanks guys, really enjoyed it overall.

Well done.

Good time. As you will know the Marathon is very hard off almost perfect training so with compromising a bit… ouch!

Legs sore… yeah, thats the main negative about going hard in a Marathon the recovery is lengthy (unless you take is really easy, which never happens.)

Clocked sub 36 for a legit 10km course today (35:50 for 10km and 35:56 for the course 10.02km)
I have not been near that for 3 years and a PB for me. Taken a long time to get here but I think I can go faster, had the event been 3 days later I would have won the v50s

Just in case anyone fancies a god 10km next year …. Tilli 10km in Tillicoultry is basically along a tarmaced old railway line on an out and back course. Opens the first weekend in December and usually sells out in a day.
