Have a good one at Barcelona, bit too pricey for me these days plus my daughter is likely to incur uni costs around then. I’d take ear plugs for the ride if I did it again, the roar of the wind takes a toll.
So if people are looking for a late summer 70.3 then registration opens shortly for IM Poznan. The course is flat and I’ve never been to Poland so two plus points for me. Race is August 30th, again perfect for me, registration opens Tuesday at1pm. I hear that IM 70.3s are quite cheap

I think my mate did that one and the one in the Czech Republic, said they are a bit cheaper and accommodation is usually cheaper as well.
Fast courses usually.
The couple of times I’ve been to Poland I really liked it.
Not sure it fits with my plans though, and Greta wouldn’t be happy with my air miles!

Anyone know what the flights prices are like at that time of year?
I’m still amazed my flights to IM Lanza were under 100pp although back in 2019.

Ironman, or Grizzlyman? I’ve heard good things about the later as one of the best value European long course events.
No use to Joex, but I’m considering Hardman in Ireland next year, end of August. £200 and bike course looks great round the ring of Kerry.

This was the Ironman 70.3 event, looks like it’s about an hour from Prague.
The one in Ireland sounds good but I’d expect wind and rain!

Friend asking if I’ll do Barcelona ironman with him. Ticks nearly every box but just don’t think I can stomach that £800 entry price.

I didn’t get into Badlands for the 4th year in a row. Probably for the best as maybe Dubai isn’t the ideal training venue. Still disappointed. I guess I need to put more effort into my application’s answer to “Why do you want to do this race” beyond just saying “I like to very occasionally do extra-hard races”. Or become a Youtoob cycling influencer, who seem to fill up about 30%* of the slots.

Western States lottery on Saturday
Chances for someone with my number of tickets (3rd year in the ballot) last year was 1.7%
This year there are over 2000 additional applicants this year so chances even lower
Resigned to having to wait a few more years…

Fred Whitton ballot opened today. I’ve put an entry in, wasn’t sure about it, as the clips I’ve seen on YouTube looked a bit chaotic on the climbs in places with cars, people pushing their bikes and riders having to negotiate around them all.
