2026 Races

Yeap, crazy money and on that basis mostly likely one and done with IM Full for me.

Just checked what I was actually charged (as its showing as pending on the card)… £767.39 and I entered the second it was open (so no increased pricing in play.)

FML! Fairly sure I paid quite a bit less last year and got the pre-sales price so I had the flex90 option.

It’s likely to be my last full from them, would possibly look at Challenge or small events but don’t really see me doing a full again after.

I’m going to have to wait before entering any triathlons next year. Was going to do Outlaw half Holkham and Nottingham but with money leaving the house for reasons only suitable in Blackpool Lounge I just don’t have the dough.

I thought it odd when a fella at the pool on Monday said he was doing IM Leeds. I just assumed it was now open for registration, as I haven’t been checking. The Leeds page says that registration will open soon.

Maybe they are trying to negotiate the rumoured original bike route before entries open, I doubt it though as they openned it without published routes for this years edition.

From Roundy Park they should head North into the Dales and would have the sort of course most would have expected. Or head East and have a nice rolling route including the Yorks Wolds (where the roads tend to be quieter so maybe less disruptive?).

I am wondering whether Leeds is going to happen.

They must have hit some snag or they are reconsidering. Ironman wouldn’t have passed on the opportunity to have the money in their coffers for all this time!

exactly ,i also think a smart move also by outlaw including 1/2 distance to their full on same day

All Aus IM have 70.3 same day. Made sense getting >3000 people paying without much extra set up costs or road closures etc. didnt understand any downside why UK events weren’t all doing it.

Weymouth did have both initially, some European 70.3’s also include an Olympic distance to swell the coffers.

Starting to get more things organised for next year. Going to do Paphos half marathon in March for a bit of sunshine and one of the UTMB Chianti races 2 weeks later, starting to err towards the 21k race so I don’t overdo things training for something that will take around 6 hours!

Haven’t entered either race but have booked flights to Paphos and back from Italy so will do the races soon, planning on visiting Ankara, Istanbul and a couple of places in Italy in between.

Considering the 3 peaks as well but not totally committed yet.

Just emailed Ironman about my Barcelona deferral as I think it’s nearly sold out and I’ve heard nothing yet. And looking at a few other races before ADH, will probably stay in the UK though.

Had my BTF confirmation for the European and World Duathlon champs in 2026 for the sprint and standard distances.
So 12 months to save for a long weekend in Abu Dhabi. Will be interesting as it will be flat course that could play to my advantage if I can improve my CDa throughout the year. I think I will drop out of the sprint as the events are scheduled on consecutive days for both champs which gives me no chance to recover.

They’ve replied with a signup link, maybe I should have waited until it sold out! They’d have probably insisted I do Leeds instead :grimacing:

Trying to commit to a long course race next year to mark ten years since my first, and hope the finances work out.

Cant decide 70.3 or 140.6. What time of year. Or what course.

Ideally branded and before mid July but I’m still stuck on not seeing the point until I can run significantly better.

Lanzarote is a cheaper race, usually with extremely cheap flights and accommodation. Frankfurt is better for the family. Leeds would be a feather for work.

Swansea half is a daft price but the family like the area, Weymouth more achievable.

Then there’s the Cotswold bargains…

But maybe the anniversary is when I should quit, or admit that I’ve already quit, long course and focus on Sprint and Olympic.

Decisions decisions…
